We went with a change to how sites normally do deck scoring and here's the reasoning behind it.

Most sites score decks starting at 1. The reason for starting at 1 is you assume that someone would just upvote their own creation so you do that automatically and prevent them from adding an additional vote.

We've instead started at 0 and given creators the option to vote on their own deck. The way I see it, if someone is just posting their deck here to keep for themselves or to share with a couple of friends easily, they probably aren't ever going to get any votes nor would they care to vote on it themselves. By keeping it at 0, people can easily see that it's not worth going into, there isn't likely to be a guide.

Now if you've put the time into writing a deck guide, give your own deck an upvote and it shows people "hey this might be worth checking out".

It's a big test really, if it ends up not working out, we'll go back to a system where stuff starts at 1 and the creator cannot vote on it.

As far as your bug goes though, I'm unable to replicate it. Undoing my own vote on my own deck is removing it. Can you provide me a link to a deck where you believe the count is bugged so I can investigate this further?

Yeah, I'd feel a lot better about Hearthpwn being conspicuously abandoned this spoiler season if the new site's deckbuilder actually felt like it was a finished, polished thing. I'd also like to be able to import decks so I can quickly make small changes to an already existing deck, by adding in a small number of Rise of Shadows cards for example.

So, HearthPwn hasn't been abandoned, at least not by myself and the mod team. We're just stuck, unable to get a site update out to support the new set because of people that aren't us. That broke all of the tooling that has been built over the years to handle reveal seasons.

With that said, you can import decks properly now. Previously you had to use just the deckhash itself and not the entire copy that the Hearthstone client gives you. The client gives you a lot of "commented" information that we weren't correctly parsing out from the deckhash. That fix is being deployed momentarily.

Thanks for updating deckbuilder, it really helped.

But I've found a different problem,

We can add more than 2 copies of all cards and more than 1 copies of legendaries.

Non-issue. It's like this for sharing Brawl and Arena decks which may have different rules.

Been a bit of an update hiatus thanks to the fun surrounding the Hearthstone reveal season and some other background stuff. Here's the platform updates for today.

    Bugs Fixed

    • Fixed an issue where mobile users could not access sub navigation.
    • Deckstrings from Hearthstone can now be correctly imported due to updated parsing.
    • Fixed issue with voting logic causing incorrect cached calculations of vote scores.
    • Fixed issue with deckbuilder not properly allowing you to remove cards from your deck.

    Changes

    • Navigation now sticks to the top on mobile devices for easy access.
    • Icon added for Rise of Shadows.
    • Expansion Pages
      • Cards sort by Legendary -> Common.
      • Cards now have discussion links below the images.
    • Cardimg BBCode
      • Now supports size attribute. Maxes at 400px. (cardimg size=300)
      • Now supports discuss attribute. Renders a discussion link under the card image.
    • Deckbuilder
      • Cards now sort by cost and alphabetically in both builder and deck list.
      • Cards in the list now display cost and rarity color.
      • Archetypes now list alphabetically for easier finding in the save form.

Definitely on the list of things to improve with the deckbuilder. Full text search is super important to finding synergies. No ETA on getting that out, but thank you for the feedback!

Expansion pages will correctly sort cards by rarity now (Legendary -> Common) on next deploy.

We could maybe do a better job adding in "Epic" and "Rare" to our titles for newly revealed cards when appropriate. Always do legendary though because those are... legendary :D

    Thanks for the feedback.

I'll be honest, I'm not sure how this ended up happening, Hiei. There's a hardcoded rule to redirect logged in users to the homepage if we can't figure out what page you were on previous to the login.

Was there a certain page you were on prior to logging in that caused the issue?

Deckbuilder and deck page overhauls are on the grand list of things to do. Please keep the feedback coming, nothing will be taken the wrong way!

I'm going to chime in *somewhere* just so you're aware these kind of topics have been read.

I'll talk more about it real soon. I know that is less than ideal, and believe me, it is for me too.

Collection Management is on the radar, as you said that it is not a trivial task to get the automated portion running so it'll take some time. I know how vital it is to Hearthstone sites though =)

    This card is crazy good.

People really undervalue how important knowing what cards your opponent has actually is. Early game, you might even be able to see their whole hand! Late game is where I could really see this shining though due to the vital hand knowledge.

Bonus points for giving thief priest more goodies.

I'm really glad Blizzard used the old art again. Some people were saying it was lazy but I think it's a great homage to the community.

    Hey ADXE,

I see you were able to comment. Was there anything in particular that happened when you made your comment originally that seemed off?

I've fixed the underlying issue that caused this to happen. You should be able to login to your old account with the password you used to create your new one.

Email not working is a known issue at the moment and will get fixed.

Agreed, it's very nice! Not sold on the triangles in the back but hey it's a matter of taste :)The best thing is it's now running smoothly since last time i checked. I guess you'll also update the deck builder to look more like the hearthpwn one ?

The plan is to definitely improve the deckbuilder more, we're not at all finished with it. I don't have much to announce right now for it but we do want to support mechanics, easily tabbing for new expansion cards, mana curves, and giving you a quick overview at how much dust the deck will cost. We can also work on the save method more, it's a bit "weird" right now having to scroll to the bottom of the page to access it.

    Getting this added momentarily!

Edit: This is now in. Goal is to eventually allow you to select multiple classes too.

You can indeed win something you've already purchased, but it isn't possible to gift it to you. You could give it to someone else at that point, or I'm willing to work with people and do something from Battle.net of equivalent value.

    Hey ADXE,

    Fantastic desire!

In a late night deploy, I've added this functionality alongside other deckbuilder improvements. You can see the full changelog for recent changes here:

It was a bit of a busy end of the week with the new expansion being announced so I wasn't able to get up patch notes for the site. Here's everything important you need to know from Wednesday to Sunday.

    Bugs Fixed

    • Fixed an issue where it was possible to cause the homepage to error if you published an article that had an empty tag. Thanks for accidentally finding that one, Sylicas, and for only letting the staff see the article!
    • Removed client-only rarities from our rarity drop downs.
    • Usernames on the site may now only be alphanumeric.
    • You can now edit your comments as many times as you like without needing to refresh the page because of shitty JavaScript.

    New Features

    • Hearthstone Card Reveals
      • Guides with unrevealed cards now display placeholder images.
      • Additional backend changes have been made to prepare for the expansion and make it easier for us to cover.
      • More card reveal related stuff will be coming early this week.
    • Polls
      • Currently an early version.
      • All card pages now have rating polls for rating cards based on how you think they will do in Standard, Wild, and Arena.
      • There isn't any way to see the data yet, that comes this week.
      • No ETA on creating your own polls on the site, but those are on the todo list.
    • Comment Replies and Quotes
      • You can now reply and quote comments!
      • Comment replies are nested everywhere except the forums so you can easily follow conversations taking place. So sorry this wasn't in at soft launch.
    • Editor
      • Added a new row of buttons for Card, Card Image, and Deck insertions.
      • You can use the card or deck ids for the above bbcodes. You can also use the card name for the card ones.

    Changes

    • Improved backend performance on many pages. The homepage especially should load just that tiniest bit faster.
    • You can now access Recent Threads from the Forums Nav dropdown.
    • Standard Hearthstone expansions now display in the Expansions dropdown. All other sets, please click on expansions!
    • Hearthstone Mechanics
      • Added Combo (cards are not yet flagged with this, we need to resync our data)
      • Added Lackey
      • Added Twinspell
    • You can now press on the HearthStation name at the top of the site on mobile to go to the homepage.
    • Deckbuilder
      • The deckbuilder looks better.
      • You can now easily page through cards with the larger buttons or the scroll wheel.
      • Added a format option called "game format".
        • Standard will only show you standard cards.
        • Wild will show you cards from every set.
        • Only Wild will show you cards from sets not allowed in Standard.
        • Request for Comments: Would you like an Arena sort so we can display only cards that you'd get in Arena runs?
      • Changed the way the cards sort so it is now lowest cost to highest. Still need to sort them by cost AND alphabetically. Soon (tm).
      • Remove the save buttons at the top that didn't do anything.
