It's kinda weird how this is a post specifically about the power level of these cards, yet it doesn't mention the changes to Laughing Sister and Ysera Awakens. I would assume they didn't know about the changes outside of Dream, but then they mention that Nightmare is a free Blessing of Kings, implying they know it is now +4/+4. This should really be added to the post in the same place they clarified the change to Dream.
I know there's not a complete list. I mean what we know so far, the same as with the new cards.
The fact it's a big reveal season with lots of releases and card changes is exactly why it would be really useful to have all the Core-related stuff in one place. I have been reading the news posts, but it's been kinda confusing seeing all these cards and rumoured changes, and oftentimes not knowing what is real vs speculation, or what is Barrens vs Core (especially confusing because of the different watermarks being used as placeholders).
I know that things are confusing during early reveals anyway, and a big load of new stuff coming all at once due to BlizzCon creates a lot of work for the OoC team, so its expected for news posts to be a little vague/make mistakes initially. I really appreciate the work that goes into this site, and I don't hold that against the team at all. However, it would be nice to have the posts updated when we learn specifics/correct info later. And if that doesn't happen, at least pages that are supposed to be consolidations of all of the info about an expansion should probably have all of the info we know.
Would it be feasible to add a list of all the pre-existing cards coming to the Core set to this page, with the changes for those which have them? I'm struggling to find a complete list of everything we know about Core anywhere.
I don't know a huge amount about WoW lore, but I would guess that if the first expansion is about the birth of the Horde, then the second will be about the formation of the Alliance. The Alliance's symbol fits very well with the year of the Gryphon too, considering their crest is flanked by gryphons (and a gryphon is part lion). And following that, I would guess that the final expansion may be about one of the two factions' first major battles? I know that there were multiple iterations of both, but from what FitB seems to be implying about which Horde they're referring to (with trolls, tauren, etc), maybe it would be the Third War? We've had a lot of content from that time, what with Kel'Thuzad and Prince Arthas/The Lich King featuring so prominently, but I would guess there's an event/area tied to it that hasn't gotten so much attention.
That's only an issue if you have more spells in your deck than space in your hand. I would imagine that such a combo-oriented deck would run as few spells as possible outside of the C'Thun pieces, specifically to avoid that.
That doesn't seem like an issue in Standard, considering Druid OTK was almost always based on the old Maly. Without that spell damage they really don't have enough face damage to pull off an OTK.
In Wild, sure, but if a Druid has ramped to turn 9 then they have much bigger things they could pull than dropping a 4/12 and then waiting a turn.
One minor typo I noticed: "They believe the entrance, the Razorfen Downs is made from his mount and that it will swallow whole those not loyal to him, and spit out their bodies." I believe you meant "mouth".
They have clarified that if you already own cards that are added to Core, you will have two copies - your version and the rental version. If you want, you can disenchant your version and still play with the Core version for 1 year. However, once Core changes, you will lose your free copy. If you keep both, you will still have your copy no matter what changes come to Core in the future.
I highly doubt that Captain's Parrot, ETC and Gelbin would be added to Classic packs. They've been craft only ever since the the Pirates quest was removed for Parrot, and since their promo releases for the other two, and I don't see that changing.
This all seems great and I am honestly all for a new Core set. I doubt I'll play Classic mode much, but it'll be interesting to see what Hearthstone was like before I started playing at the Blackrock launch.
However, there's one thing I don't understand. They seem to imply, by saying that they will give us the Core cards for free and then "swap" them for the new Core set next year, that we will not keep our copies of the Core cards that we didn't already have. So when the 2021 Core set rotates, will I have to craft those 29 new cards if I want to play them in Wild, even though I've been playing them for 2 years in Standard? I get that Blizzard don't want to keep giving us a bunch of free cards every year that we keep forever, but that seems needlessly confusing and unfairly detrimental for Wild players (assuming any of these Core cards have the power-level to make them still relevant in Wild 2 years after they come out, of course).
Kinda funny how three of these characters have sons who are already in Hearthstone. Varian Wrynn was basically Anduin Lothar's adoptive son. Dranosh Saurfang was a Frozen Throne boss as Deathbringer, and the ever-forgettable Rend Blackhand is Warchief Blackhand's son too.
Maybe they can do a Warrior hero pack for Father's Day lol
A turn 7 3-card OTK is never okay, no matter what counters or bad matchups exist. Whatever valid concerns there are about nerfing combo in general, this particular example was clearly broken and not at all healthy for the game. It was incredibly easy to play, comparatively difficult to counter (especially considering how early it can OTK), and most importantly, incredibly un-fun to lose to. This is a game people play to have fun, so that's why it needed to be nerfed.
Th real question is, is this or Bronze Explorer the cutest of the explorers?
TRIFLING GNOME
Really tempted to craft this to try it in my Wild buff Paladin deck, but it is so bad in every other case :(

Toxic by name, toxic by nature

Great as always, Goliath :)

Is Patreon Warrior a combo where you ask the opponent to give you their Coin?

"Brian "Don't Call Me Brian "Brian Kibler" Kibler" Kibler" has me crying 😂
