Congrats man! I too am playing quest hunter with similar results. If I'm able to play enough this last week, I could hit legend easily with it. Like you, I have yet to play a mirror match. I really don't get why, the deck is really powerful in this meta, yet no one is playing it. I'm happy with it staying that way as long as possible, and am enjoying how very few people know how to play around Leeroy-unleash-hp. Anyways, congrats on first time legend!

Granted, it'S a pretty strong play in any quest deck and my Quest HUnter will definitely try running it...but it really isn't all that flashy.

Ah yes... Just found that out recently. It's kind of a shame for players like me that don't spend money on the game. It's sooooo much gold to save up or otherwise forced to buy. I don't think it's fair that they'll be uncraftable otherwise
I can see why you feel like this, but you also have to consider that this is by far the best way to spend your gold: for 2800 you'll get 4 legendaries and a bunch of meta defining cards. In order to get the same amount of good stuff with packs you'd have to spend way more gold. Just save up your gold and don't spend it on packs: you'll eventually be able to farm 700g every week and get all the goodies.

My highlight was hitting rank 1/1 star. As a ftp who doesn't play nearly as much as he'd like to, this felt awesome and is the highest I've reached.
Looking forward to playing more wild in 2020. I've started dabbling in it and pleasantly surprised that I have a range of playable cards and it's quite fun!

I've tried a cult master for draw, scavenging hyena for an earlier threat, and toying around with high inquisitor highmane (sorry I don't know how to do the card links on mobile)
Excepting highlander decks, the dust cost haven't actually been ramping up. Its just the cards being more specialized , which means you need more cards to play more decks, more so than in the past.
In the previous set rotation there wasn't any highlander decks, which is already one of the most expensive archetypes in hearthstone presently, and I think its commonly accepted the previous year's expansion (Witchwood - Rastakhan) has minimal impact on the previous meta (Ungoro - Rastakhan), so you pretty much only had to craft the few deathknight hero cards and a couple more legendaries/epics from Ungoro - Kobolds expansion to play most decks.
From RoS to DoD, the meta is more diverse and legendaries/epics kinda got more specialized. Plus, team5 have been going on each expansion trying to introduce more deck types instead of powering previous ones so more resources are needed if you're gonna be playing even half the list from tier 1-2.
In a way, its healthy for the game, but its undoubtedly makes it more expensive to enjoy it, provided you want to play most of the decks.
I think that's a pretty accurate analysis! It definitely makes it hard to keep up as a FTP player, but I've still managed to get 1-2 basically meta decks. And most importantly it's still fun!

Is it just me, or has the average deck cost gone up significantly with all these great new cards, and particularly highlander strategies? I know that face Hunter and zoolock are fairly affordable, but I'd be interested to know if anyone has compared average meta decks over the last few expansions
So back when they first released the guaranteed legendary within your first 10 packs of an expansion, it ended up making it so that if you bought packs from an expansion after that, the first 10 would still contain a legendary, even if you had gotten packs before they added in that feature.
So unless they specifically changed that, it should still work for the first few expansions, since I never heard anything about them fixing that
So, I just tried this and it works! Did the first two expansions and got a legendary on pack #9 then pack #6!
I only opened about 30-35 packs but I got four legendaries, which is pretty good.
I got the priest 3/3 legendary which sucks because I don't play priest. I also got Veranus and Ancharrr which is pretty cool. But my favorite is Kronx Dragonhoof which I would have had to craft because he is just so good.
Overall I would say I had pretty good luck opening packs.

Pretty self-centred of me to make a thread about this, but needed to share my joy with this awesome community.
After playing for almost 2 years, and never spending a dollar, I finally made it with quest Hunter! (dekkster list with hyena replacing halazzi)
Have gone 51-30 (62% WR) and not a single mirror! Closest was a highlander hunter quest build. Meta breaker? Haha

I saw someone playing paladin and was shocked when brazen zealot got a buff when a friendly minion was magnetised, but not the case for Hunter quest
