This card is just straight up good. In any sort of Mage that runs freeze like Exodia or Mill, being able to freeze 2 big minions on your opponents board for 2 mana (or even better, their 1 big minion for 1 mana) is perfect stall.
I'm still trying to get the hang of it, but my last match against an aggressive Quest Druid was quite satisfying and surprising - I didn't think I could survive that long without triggering Ice Block. Using Zola to duplicate Coldlight Oracle is great. It's also rather neat that the combo includes a card that you can also use to find the rest of the combo ie. Research Project. Lastly, I love that an opponent's Ice Block cannot save them from this combo :)
Thanks for the great feedback, it sounds like you're loving Mill Mage as much as me! Aggro is definitely a struggle but if you get a decent draw it is doable. Research Project is such a great spell. Really hoping we get another card to support this archetype next expansion.
In what scenario would you rather not have a 2/2 body on top of it all? Not sure if this comparison works ; the two are certainly alike but doesn't mean its the same, plus, they aren't mutually exclusive in the deckbuilding process.
I play a lot of Exodia Mage and Mill Mage. With those decks you usually don't want to have to wait for Mad Scientist to die, you want the Ice Block in place ASAP. It can be the difference between a win and a loss.
When I first saw this card my heart sank a little. I thought "9 Mana? Damn." Then once I played it I realised that you follow up with Vanish next turn and you've reset the board with mana to spare, and a crazy new value engine at your disposal. Amazing card.
Thanks to Flux, Frosty, and the team. This is a great community and you can see all of the hard work that is put into this site. The whole reveals season for Saviors of Uldum has just been first class on Out of Cards (as it was before at the "other place we do not speak of now"), and i'm looking forward to enjoying many more here as the best place for everything Hearthstone related. Thanks guys! Edit: Got caught up in my excitement for OoC - I voted for Anka, the Buried and would definitely not change my vote. Anka HYPE!

Zephrys is a super cool card that has me excited for the future of singleton decks in Wild!
Another super cool article. Great job guys!
Keep 'em coming guys, these articles are great!

There are just so many fun cards for this expansion. LAUNCH DAY HYPE!
One of the coolest cards ever. It made Exodia Mage go from a ridiculous trick using Duplicate on Sorcerer's Apprentice to a real deck enabled by Emperor Thaurissan.

For sure - if you're running more than 2 secrets it's a good idea
This card makes two of my favourite decks - Mill Mage and Exodia Mage - possible. I'm so glad it was sent to the Hall of Fame instead of nerfed.

This card opened up a whole new archetype for Mage - Mill Mage. Thank you to whoever at Team 5 brought this meme-tier card to life.
This card is still so much fun. I crafted it golden when Whispers of the Old Gods launched and have never regretted it.
It's ok but not great. Still really good fun, though.

F2PBTW. Seriously though, it's pretty cool that new / free players get semi-decent support with this card.
In almost all scenarios this is just a straight up better Mad Scientist. GG thanks Blizz.
Thanks for considering the suggestion Sinti. I totally understand about the core features, and hope that the team can address this at some point.
Just another vote against the spoiler streams. Ugh, no thanks Blizz.
