Kind of a bummer the patch didn't launch today, then the guys who data mine could look into the next tavern pass along with the cosmetic awards and future plans, also

Nordrasill Druid's pretty good if you wanna play spells that cost like, 3 or less. Like, play her and then Mark of the Wild and you have a 5/8 with taunt.

There's also Wild Growth, Landscaping, Feral Rage, Moontouched Amulet, Lunar and Solar Eclipse, Guess the Weight and fungal fortunes for great tempo plays.

Anything 4 mana and up you'll need at least 5 mana to play this minion and the spell, which is still good tempo, but you'll probably want to play Overgrowth on turn 4 instead of waiting for turn 5

Wondering how mage'll do without their reach.

They still have Mask of C'thun, Apexis Blast and Ras Frost Whisper but those aren't cheap, you'll need a turn to set up whatever minion gets Aegwynn's effect and then use the spell.

Focused will wouldn't be terrible if Innerfire would be in rotation. But silencing a minion only to give it extra health isn't that great - especially since you'd want that extra health on minions with taunt or to have them survive so they can use their effects longer.

I'm lookin' forward to seeing what happens with Shaman.

I think the only cards I'm sad to see rotate are Bloodlust and Farsight, but everything else is better in practically every way.

Tidal Surge now has lifesteal, so the healing will stack with all that spell damage synergy Shaman's getting.

The buffs to the minions and the spells are great - Lightning storm will now be consistent instead of just disappointing, and throwing down Feral Spirit or Earth Elemental won't totally kill your next turn if you play them on curve.

Judging by the spells Shaman will have after rotation, it feels like Blizzard wants Shaman to be a class with strong spells for removal so they're minions can be used to secure victory.

Shaman had an interesting year in the Phoenix with Evolve, spell damage and totems, it'll be interesting to see where they go in the year of the Gryphon.

Yanno I was going to say it's weird that hunter loses animal companion but they really haven't since Open the Cages will still be in standard.

Dire Frenzy will be nice to see come back, it's super helpful for Hunters stuck in the late game, and it has some good synergy with Guardian Animals, which hasn't seen much play in Hunter decks...I think ever? Put a Dire Frenzy on a Trampling Rhino, and then Guardian Animals next turn for possibly 2 8/8's with Rush that deal chip damage to your opponents face.

Selective Breeder has multiple uses - if you wanna use Leoroxx as a finisher you can use it to fish for King Krush since Hunting Party and Ramkahen Wildtamer will be rotating out. Heck, even outside of a combo deck it's still useful - pull out a copy of Xizor Prime, or a minion that was buffed with Dire Frenzy. Heck, even discover something to play on curve like Bearshark.

Hunter seems pretty strong at the moment.

yeah, right now Warlock's only reward for discarding is either Hand of Gul'dan or Boneweb egg.

but having this in the core set is probably an indicator we'll get more discard synergies this year

Here's a meme - Felsoul Jailer in a control deck with Shadow Hunter Vol'jin. You're already getting yourself to 10 mana playing this deck, you plop down Jailer to remove a late game threat or combo piece, then target Vol'jin on it for something else - like anything with a taunt.

Also I don't think discard warlock is missing out on draw - they're usually aggro zoo type decks that run the Hand of Gul'dan - you just dump your hand, Lakkari will discard that 6 mana draw spell, get 3 cards, profit.

I didn't realize Drain Soul was 3 damage now. I think it was 2 originally?

All in all Warlock has some GOOD tools in the core. This is the only class I have over 1000 wins with, it's going to feel good to bully people with warlock again.

I like that it says specifically "holy spells". means the coin won't activate it, and you can't just use any spell to activate it's affect.

problem is tho, you'll need the mana to pull off the effect, or have the spells and deck dedicated to using this card. And even then it's effect isn't that powerful, especially since priest doesn't have inner fire in standard.

    I guess there's always wild...

So can someone clear something up for me -

The new core set for Demon Hunter has a few cards from Ashes of Outland - Warglaives of Azzinoth, Crimson Sigil Runner, Spectral Sight and Ashtongue Battlelord - are they being removed from the AoO set and moving into this one?

Do we know how this works?

I just realized that Demon Hunter has a number of cards from Ashes of Outland that are now in the core set...

will the cards be rotating out of that set and into the core set?

I like the card art, and I hope she has a unique opening line when played against Medhiv.

Or even if Medhiv plays her...

very, very soft synergy with Illgynoth, but almost too expensive as a finisher. What i notice is that you need to play an outcast card, not an outcast card with it's outcast effect, to bounce it back into your hand.

who knows, maybe she can find a home in aggressive lists that discount their outcast cards with Skull of Gul'dan and Illdari Studies

    Things I LOVE -

Plague Doctor and Tomb Pillager returning? Hell yes, I loved these guys. Even if Plague Doctor didn't see much play in the meta I love his opening line.

Baron Rivendare and the Nerubian Egg - I never got Curse of Naxxramas, I'm super excited to play with these guys now.

I enjoy seeing the CHARGE keyword reserved for powerful legendary minions - makes them feel like finishers

RUSH being added to the older CHARGE minions feels good, too. Now they're removal, and that's a good thing.

Every class having a 1 drop, and the 1 drops convey what the classes wanna do - play weapons, get good stats at a cost, heal, get additional cards, etc.

I love Warlocks new and returning demons. No more damn Pit Lord or Shadow imp being generated randomly.

    THOUGHTS ON THE CORE SET

No Hogger? Maybe they'll give him a new legendary card in the Alliance set this year...

Nozdormu's a meme that'll probably only happen in Arena. But man those matches will be hectic

Mage losing a lot of it's old cards means we're going to get new toys to play with that we couldn't before - maybe a mass polymorph spell (although we still have devolve missiles so probably not). And spells that go face will be limited and Mage will now start getting minions that might be able to stay on the board. I do like Aegwynn's design, tho.

Not a lot of Murlocs - probably means we'll get more later since the core set has Murloc Tidecaller

Not a lot of Mechs? probably means we'll get more since the core set has cogmaster, and the horde and alliance have goblins and gnomes making big contraptions for their side.

The only Giant is the clockwork giant - and that may mean we'll get cards that will add to your opponents hand later this year. Or just a weird tech choice against greedy control decks. But no other giants means no more big 8/8 for zoo or tokens.
