I enjoyed the first couple of days of F2P, but have hit the progression wall. My units are too low level or not the ones needed to beat the story missions, and the only way to get more units (or to upgrade rarity and a a talent) is to wait for the next surge or pay money. So I ran dungeons and did PvP while waiting, but now I’ve hit the level wall with dungeons, and PvP meta has settled into something I don’t have the units or leaders to be competitive in. In all 3 modes I can now rarely win, and fixing that requires gold.
My mercenaries inbox has a "deal" for a random legendary Merc for $4.99, and I can click it to go to the page in the shop for it. I don't see it listed in the shop when I go to the shop manually though. Note: I still have the welcome bundle unpurchased ($4.99 for a random legendary Merc and 10 packs), so I'm not sure why they think I'd bite on this one. My Mercenaries investment so far has been limited to gold for the buildings and just enough packs (also bought with gold) to get all the rares. Normally I'd get at least the welcome bundle, but things are so screwed up so far that I'm not willing to bite yet.
Side note: Does it feel like Tasks were added/significantly changed last minute before Mercenaries launched? Most of the bugs and bad gameplay I've heard about seem to be related to tasks...
I seem to have hit a much worse bug: it won’t let me build the merchant cart that Valera wants to progress the tutorial (not available in the workshop). As a result I’m stuck with only the campfire, the tavern, and the travel point. I don’t have the last two mercenaries, don’t have ability to open packs, and now after playing a while with the 6 mercenaries I have Valera wants me to build a fight pit, which of course I also can’t build due to the middle part of the tutorial having disappeared :(
And the tooltip bug on mobilemaking it impossible to see what ability the center enemy is going to use makes battles significantly harder until you learn what they tend to do.
For anyone who wants to be lazy about finding cards to dusk for full value, you can filter for "refund", to see anything you can disenchant for full dust value. Very handy!
Thanks for the tips about searching for "Refund" and about there being a refund for Varian, King of Stormwind. I had opened him in one of my packs, and while I'm not buying the pass, I'm disenchanting him so that I can maybe pick a different legendary I'd rather play around with.
Because the wording says "Play 3 different 1-Cost cards" rather than "Play 3 1-Cost cards", I read that as "Play 3 differently-named 1-Cost cards". I would expect that you couldn't, for example, play Pen Flinger, Blessed Goods, Pen Flinger again to complete a given step, because that's only 2 "different" cards. Or has it been clarified that the cards don't actually have to have different names?
I think unfortunately for several of the suggested cards, simply having the card and mana to cast it isn't enough. You can't cast the second Oasis Ally if the first hasn't triggered yet, and you don't have much minion generation to make triggering it likely. You can't cast the 7 (3x1 + 1x1) spells that only target minions if there are no minions to target.
My first thought when I saw the quest steps was to wonder if it might be worth running the quest simply for the step 1 (and maybe step 2?) rewards, without necessarily even intending to take it all the way? But maybe it takes too long to complete the steps if you haven't built your deck around damage spells.
Has there been confirmation that the 2nd step can really be done in pieces? The wording of the 1st and 3rd step "Gain X attack" seems like it can be done across multiple turns (similar to "Gain X armor" quests), but the wording of the 2nd step "Give your hero +5 attack" sounds like it will only trigger if you have "+5 attack" at a single point in time, rather than a smaller amount across multiple turns.
Disappointed that I can't hope for getting a chance at a free bundle this time around, but I haven't seen those being given away other places either, and with all the bad PR Blizzard is getting recently I'm not surprised. I haven't ever won a free bundle, so not getting one this time either isn't too much of a change anyway ;)
Due to current life circumstances limiting my gaming time I've only actually played it a few times (going through the single-player missions to get an idea of how to play), but I'd been hoping that maybe when I got tired of Hearthstone I would be able to pick this up instead.
I have to say, Jia’s well-thought-out explanation (and the charts) helped me understand the problem in a more real way. Thanks for sharing them, and for working to make HS a positive community for all.
Played as DH to get experience for that class up, not knowing it was bugged. Turns out almost all of my DH cards were board clears (Sigil of Flame, Chaos Nova, Cycle of Hatred). When I played Cycle of Hatred and summoned a 3/3 for each minion it cleared, my opponent conceded.
Congratulations to the winners! Also, props to those who actually went through and commented for the Tavern Crawl. I know I missed out on a few tickets by not doing the comments myself, but I don't usually have much to say until I've *experienced* a card so I chose to sit that portion out. Also, commenting on all the cards often takes more time than I have these days.
Sorry to hear that people tried to scam the card commenting portion though. That's disappointing to hear, although it's probably inevitable as the site grows in popularity. :(

Quest hunter in wild was doing better for me today because all the pirate warriors were trying new cards and doing worse :)
I got killed by a huge new Edwin though on turn 5or 6 after using my removal on a 10/10 original Edwin the prior turn.
First played as priest. AI coined hero power turn 1, and healed opponent with hero power any time it could.
So I tried warrior instead. AI didn’t play quest until turn 5, but opponent Warrior played quest turn 1. Perhaps the most frustrating brawl yet.

So, combo decks will fill their decks with Tradeable cards so that they can find their combo faster by trading all the non-combo pieces?
Does trading a card count as shuffling a card into your deck for [Hearthstone Card (Augmented Elek) Not Found]?
Does it count as playing a card for triggering Combo effects or for Edwin VanCleef, Questing Adventurer, etc.?
Does it count as drawing a card for "when you draw"... effects?
Will it trigger "Cast when drawn" effects?
