More of a hot take: would Prestor really be that ill-fitting as a rogue? Her whole thing is that she infiltrated Stormwind's elite, and any magic she used in the process was subtle mind manipulation (which would fall under priest more than mage or warlock). For the most part she got to that position through non-magical means, and played the role of both an assassin (on Varian) and a crime lord (commanding black dragons in the city guards, indirectly setting up the Defias brotherhood, and hiring multiple assassins to kill Lo'gosh (aka strong-willed Varian)).
The reason the rogue fantasy is so broad is that it is built on approaches to solving problems (i.e. use of stealth, agility, charm and trickery, along with a willingness to make morally questionable choices), rather than the tools used to do that. I know WoW has a fairly limited view of a rogue, but plenty of hero portraits have ignored that in other classes, so I don't really care if a rogue is using daggers, glaives, swords, bows, fists or magic so long as their role is very rogue-ish, and Prestor's role most certainly is.
I have to agree with this. I don't think Prestor would have any problems being a rogue. Aside from the reasons you've mentioned, there's also a slew of fan arts depicting her in various armors themed on her true form as Onyxia, some of which nicely fits the fantasy of a rogue. Would be really awesome if Team 5 went with those routes. In fact, I was actually hoping for that after seeing those fan artworks. Likethesefor examples.
I'm currently fine with her current portrait as I do like her card back and Hero Tray design. And she's also a mega-villain alt hero that actually tickled my fancy since Mecha-Jaraxxus. But yeah, I will also agree that she definitely could've been so much better than this too.
As for the current topic, yeah it definitely would be great to have more actual rogue alt hero portraits. As someone who played a lot of rogue. I was one of those waiting for a possible forsaken Lilian Voss alt portrait during the era of Scholomance and well, that didn't happen.
I'm aware that Scabbs might be coming but (This might be a Hot Take of mine) - I don't consider Alternate Hero Portraits to be complete without the Hero Tray. Sure, some portrait arts are amazing pieces but, in my opinion, that has to be combined with unique animations, emotes and trays to give the complete experience which is what I'm looking for in a new alt hero portrait. I'm not saying that these alt-version of heroes shouldn't exist, they certainly are nice but these portraits aren't something I'd personally use permanently or in the long run.
So yeah, I'm really hoping to see at least another alt hero rogue portraits (that not Maiev) having all the mentioned qualities.
It looks pretty dope. I might actually consider it if there's a unique hero tray and voicelines (A la the full package).
If not, then it's an easy and solid pass for me. And I don't think I will be surprised either. As this seems to be a pattern with portraits for alternate roles of the original heroes.
With these new heroes going on this direction, I'm starting to wish I had ignored my second thoughts and instead just purchased Aranna Starseeker's portrait which was a really nice portrait with an awesomely unique visual tray back when she was available. (I only had the budget for one bundle and I decided to save it for a possibly even cooler hero at the last minute. Like the potential theorized hero Lilian Voss - which now seems highly unlikely with the introduction of the Book of Heroes.)
This totally gives me more hope. And if it's true, this would make persistently waiting for more than two and a half years for both Mecha-Jaraxxus and Madame Lazul finally paying off!
Man, I'm getting more impressed with 2020's ranked card backs! I, too, am quite curious on finished package for Faerie Tail - it's even better than I expected! The Breaker is darn dope too - with this and Scholomance, I really like the return of ranked card backs based on structures/architectures.
I'm really intrigued by Horseman Uther and Annhylde, looking forward to when or if more on them gets revealed.
On another note, if the variations of the original heroes are achievements rewards, I do hope they get a hero tray of their own. It's because of that factor that I'm not very interested in the 1k wins portraits.
This should be very useful for Thief Rogues with Spectral Cutlass, though I'm not clear on one part - with the card being dual-classed, does the warrior aspect also adds another durability to the weapon?
While I was checking out about Scholomance on Wowpedia, Gandling was one of the character that caught my eye due to his aesthetics so it's definitely a pleasant surprise to see him in card form. Alongside him being very powerful and useful, I really like the card art (Currently second-favorite). Might possibly golden craft him when I get the dust.

Since I was never really impressed with boards from the Year of the Dragon, this year's boards (which includes AoO) has really impressed me so far. Here's to hoping this third expansion's board would be smashing as I really love the theme of Darkmoon Faire. (If it's the case)

It would make this case be similar to how the theme of the pre-purchase card backs of The Grand Tournament, WotOG or the Witchwood etc. are handled.

It's a very interesting card to help with bad draws but also an interesting downside and yeah, also a pleasant surprise to have a neutral weapon for the first time. Not too bad of an art for a legendary weapon in my opinion.
I'm definitely amused with the shoe-eating shenanigan (and also this deck rearrangement shenanigan potentials too.) Man, I'm really enjoying this card reveal season.

Kinda realized I should've clarified that a while later after I had logged off but yeah, I am referring to her forsaken appearance.
I definitely expect the hero portrait to be her undead self too, it sure feels more flavorful rather than her living self which is rather quite plain.
I'm really down for this, hopefully this theory becomes true. Premise-wise, it makes good sense. Plus, her armor does look pretty sick.
Glad another card back is returning, the road to certain stuff that I want is hopefully drawing near!
Though it's not one that I would use, I'll still buy it to add to the collection.
