The new Targon region is getting its very own Region Road with its addition in Call of the Mountain, but that isn't the only update we're seeing in this progression system.

Shadow Isles, Ionia, and Freljord are all receiving cards in the first part of the Call of the Mountain expansion and because of that, their Region Roads progression systems are being enhanced to make pursuing the new Champions and cards easy.

If you haven't yet completed the non-Targon region roads, maybe you're newer to the game or just haven't had a chance to play much of Freljord yet, all the existing Region Roads have been updated to give extra experience for the early levels. This is going to help players get their collections built even faster than before, which should help put everyone that is interested in the game a more welcoming experience; Not that Runeterra really needed it though, the game has been plenty generous already! It's great to see Riot take charge and keep the game accessible to players of all types.

Quote From Riot

  • Targon Region Road added, featuring 20 levels.
    • Note: The Targon regional card back will arrive with the October expansion.
  • Freljord, Ionia, and Shadow Isles Region Roads extended from 25 to 29 levels.
    • New levels for existing regions will only drop Call of the Mountain cards (until you unlock them all).
  • From Patch 1.8, Levels 1-25 on all existing roads can now drop Call of the Mountain cards (and levels added in Rising Tides are no longer anchored to Rising Tides cards).
  • Bilgewater’s Region Road now benefits from the XP Boost Level system—earn extra XP towards completing early Region Road levels.
    • From Patch 1.8, the first 12 levels on the Bilgewater road will multiply XP applied toward them by 50% (same as other existing regions).
    • System will continue be adjusted over time—for example, to include Targon levels, or to advance further down Region Roads with future releases.

Will you be taking Targon out for a spin as soon as the expansion launches tomorrow, or will you be working towards your progression in other regions?
