Welcome to another Concept Art Spotlight on Legends of Runeterra. All my concept art articles up to this point have largely focused on cards, but this time, I'm going to focus on a different feature of the game, the Guardians. Guardians are those little creatures on the bottom-left or top-right of the gameboard and watch the game in action. All players have a basic Poro as their Guardian by default, but can buy other Guardians through the in-game shop.

All these images are courtesy of Kudos Productions, a Taiwanese studio who is notably responsible for lots of the spell artwork in the game.

Gloomtooth

Gloomtooth notably went through design changes, conceived as multiple different shark types during its development.

Gromp Jr.

Gromp Jr. notably went through many changes with the shape of its face and the mushrooms on its head before landing on the final product.

Minion

Kudos shared a whopping 24 different designs of Minion representing its development.

Scaled Snapper

Scaled Snapper, modeled after the card of the same name did not appear to have as much of a development cycle with no rough draft boarding shared.

Silverwing

Silverwing went through a lot of possible body shapes before landing on the final product.

Cosmo

Cosmo had changes over its development in regards to the shape of its teeth, the top of its head, and the attiring (for lack of a better word) of its shoulders. The final product appears to be the top design of B.

That will conclude this short, but special installment of the Concept Art Spotlight series. Next time I come back to this, we'll be looking at card backs.
