It's about time! You can now protect your Riot account with multi-factor authenticator (MFA, 2FA) to help secure your account against attacks.

  • This is a new system over the old one that allowed you to enter a code when logging in on a new device.
  • The new system uses your email to authenticate your account access. Further updates coming later this year.
  • You are not required to enable this for your account, everything is opt-in.
  • Multi-factor authentication is not available on Garena and other 3rd party portals.

Enabling multi-factor authentication will help protect your logins, payment information, and collections.

How Do I Enable Riot Multi-Factor Authentication?

You can see Riot's full support article regarding Multi-Factor Authentication. Here is how it is done:

  1. Sign in to your Riot account page.
  2. Navigate to the Sign-In & Security tab.
  3. Locate the 2-factor authentication card.
  4. Click the Resend email button.
  5. Navigate to the inbox of your connected email address.
  6. Find and open the MFA email you received from Riot games.
    (If you don’t see the email in your inbox, check the spam folder.)
  7. From the email, click the Enable Two-Factor Authentication button.

How Do I Disable Riot Multi-Factor Authentication?

  1. Sign in to your Riot account page.
  2. Navigate to the Sign-In & Security tab.
  3. Locate the 2-factor authentication card.
  4. Click the Disable button.
  5. Review the pop-up, and click Disable if you’re sure.

Do I Always Need to Enter a Multi-Factor Authentication Code?

Nope!

In the launcher, under the field where you enter the MFA code, you'll see a box that says Remember this app for 30 days. Check it, and you won't have to enter a code again for 30 days. Just remember to only do this on a trusted device, like your personal computer or mobile phone.
