Update October 20: We're still looking for more! Come and join us in creating awesome content to share with the world.

We're opening up positions on staff to help us cover video games! If you are a passionate individual who wants to create written content to cover the latest breaking news, write detailed guides, and build a bustling community, you might be a good fit for our team! We'll talk about about our goals and you can see if you align with them.

I cannot stress enough how this is ultimately not a "get rich quick" scheme. We're looking for people that want to build a digital knowledge base to help gamers access content and talk about their favourite games. We want to help drive people to new games worth exploring and most importantly, we want to create a consistently moderated space in which all this happens.

Game discussions these days really only take place on Reddit and Discord, and that's a problem.

Reddit is a good platform because it has achieved a top spot on the web for traffic, which lets anyone easily find and participate in discussions. The downsides to reddit are that we don't have good ways to have topics that stick around for years at a time, letting entire discussion threads go on about a singular topic. There's also a problem of the horrendous moderation on the site, where everything is incredibly inconsistent because every "subreddit" has different rules. This leads to people being banned for what is usually no good reason.

Discord is a great place for real-time chat, but on large servers that can lead to conversations being difficult to keep up with and vital information being locked away behind a login. You ever try and search for something online these days only to see poor results? If you had of searched a Discord server for the game, assuming the search works, you'd likely have found a better answer. Closed gardens for information are not the way forward.

That brings us to Out of Games. Our goal is to give gaming a platform for well-researched and formatted information, great discussions, and providing a positive atmosphere that welcomes everyone. If you want to be a part of this and help us build from the start, we want you on our team. Passion for games is very important here, but you're also going to want to be able to buckle down and help us cover anything and everything.

The Site's Been Kinda Dead Recently Though

Yup! There have been tons of fun going on behind the scenes which has impacted our ability to cover games. By adding new staff members to our roster, we're hoping to restart our primary coverage and get ourselves back in order. This has been a challenging year for many reasons, and we're looking forward to getting everything rebooted so we can continue to serve the overall gaming community for many years to come.

We've been preparing to take in applications since May of this year and I am so glad we are finally getting these up.
