Winter is here for those of us in the northern hemisphere and it being December, that means we've got a site event to celebrate the occasion! Read on for more information about the event, our holiday giveaway, and some ways you can support our continued efforts going into 2023!

Out of Cards Patreon Updates

We've recently updated our Patreon page's url (we're no longer using my username!) to the entity that owns Out of Cards - FrostyVoid. This arrives prior to our relaunch of Out of Games to be one place you can go to support our sites with a recurring subscription. On that note of recurring subscriptions, Patreon has recently updated the way creators can take payments on the platform and now we no longer take monthly payments, but instead, rebilling occurs on a steady day each month based on when you signed up!

There was an awkward moment where anyone that signed up past the first few days in a new month, it didn't feel like you were getting full advantage of your Premium benefits. Although this isn't the case with the way our system is setup (everyone always gets their 30 days) , that's not something that has been immediately obvious and I'm glad to see Patreon clean-up this bit of their platform.

With that out of the way, there are a few ways you can support Out of Cards (and our other projects) on an ongoing basis.

  • Pledge over on our Patreon page.
    • Starts at $2 a month.
  • Subscribe to Fluxflashor on Twitch.
    • This is a standard Premium subscription, not Gold or Platinum. 
    • I've always recommended folks use their Twitch Prime subscriptions here.
  • One-time payments via PayPal for 6 or 12 months of Premium.
    • These start at $10 CAD and $20 CAD respectively.
    • Note that we manually verify some PayPal payments so it may take additional time to credit your account.

The different tiers (Premium, Gold, Platinum) don't have any differences outside of how much Platinum (more on this in a moment) you receive per day.

We'd love to have more community support through our Premium offering to keep letting us do what we do!

What Do Premium Members Get?
  • No more advertisements! Fast page loads, no distractions.
  • Supporter site title! Show off your support with a special title that you will keep permanently.
    • For our "legacy Premium members", any titles obtained in the past are now permanently on your account.
  • Unique cosmetics! Premium members earn "Platinum" site currency each day they are subscribed.
    • New rewards added over time!
  • Custom profile headers! Custom art on your profile header, uploaded by you.
  • Make your comments stand out! All your comments have a unique border to showcase your support.
  • Colored name on our Out of Cards Discord server.
  • Colors and Font Sizes in comments - Spice up your guides and add extra oomph to your comments.
    • Previously, users have been able to make use of this in limited settings.
    • We removed this ability due to abuse but trust premium members to use it wisely.
    • Do note that this will eventually become available to trusted site members as well. We're still figuring out the criteria for that.
What Is Platinum?

We have a new on-site currency called Platinum that can be used to purchase exclusive cosmetics and reward other members of the community. All Premium members receive platinum on a daily basis that can be spent in the Out of Cards shop. Additionally, purchases on our Merch store also receive Platinum and staff may gift members of the community Platinum to reward their contributions.

Platinum is earned at the following rates per day for each of our tiers:

  • Premium: 1  Platinum
  • Premium Gold: 3 Platinum
  • Premium Platinum: 7 Platinum

Platinum does not expire, and can be used for the following features:

  • Purchase unique avatar borders to customize your profile.
  • Boost community content.
    • (SOON) Show your support to other site members and spice up their content with unique flair to stand out. 

Platinum will fully rollout in the new year and has already started to accumulate!

Holiday Site Event - Snowpocalypse 3!

Our third year of Snowpocalypse brings in a fresh treasure hunt that will include 50 clues spread over 5 weeks to have you go on a hunt throughout the site. Can you solve them all and earn yourself 500 Snowflakes? The community is encouraged to make use of the comments on the event page to help each other out if some folks are having difficulty figuring out clues for games they may not play.

Currently, week two of clues has started and you can expect new clues every Saturday for the first 5 weeks of the event.

Everything comes to an end on January 14, so come throw some snowballs, solve clues, perform daily tasks, and take part in activities as they show up.

Holiday Site Giveaway

The Out of Cards Holiday Site Giveaway can be entered by visiting the shop and purchasing a Giveaway Ticket.

  • You can buy tickets for 100 Gold or 1000 Snowflakes.
  • You are allowed to purchase as many tickets as you'd like.
  • You are only able to win one prize.
  • All entrants will receive the giveaway ticket as a profile pin icon.
Giveaway Prizes

A few important notes about the giveaway:

  • Shipping addresses will be required if you win the grand prize, or you may opt to forfeit the prize.
  • Enamel Pins do not include the "Friend of Derpcorn" Profile Title and "Derpcorn" Profile Pin.
  • The premium prizes will be credited to accounts after the giveaway ends and the winners are announced.
  • If you are already a Premium member and win, you'll have additional Premium time credited to your account.
  • Anyone creating multiple accounts to participate will have their giveaway entries removed and they will not be credited back.
  • Approximate Retail Value of the Grand Prize is $17 CAD.
  • Approximate Retail Value of the Runner-up Prize is $2 CAD.
