If saving button clicks wasn't enough to talk about when it comes to Orbs of Fusings and Jeweler's Orbs, Grinding Gear Games has announced another potentially incredible quality of life change arriving as early as the next league, 3.24.

In this week's episode of Tavern Talk, Darth Microtransaction and Ghazzy had a chance to speak with Mark and Jonathan from Grinding Gear Games about Path of Exile 2 and the future of Path of Exile 1. Let's see what they had to say about trading large amounts of currency.

No More Currency Trade Macros?

This is a huge topic. To start, Grinding Gear Games is looking to add "Ctrl+Shift Click" when you have a trade window open to mass add the currency from your inventory to the trade window. This will make trading so much simpler and for those doing hundreds, if not thousands of transactions per day, the reliance on third-party tools will no longer be required.

But hey, what about those third-party tools for trading. The clicking ones in particular have been problematic since they aren't in line with the Path of Exile Terms of Service.

Bans to Come for Trade Macros?

With a proper addition of easy currency trading coming to the game, third party tools that are performing those actions will no longer be required and Grinding Gear Games may come after players using them. This will only happen though once the functional alternative comes, because they understand how much of a pain it would be otherwise.

Ultimately, doing anything against Path of Exile's Terms if Service will always be risky business, but it's great to see a development team that allows for a grey area of community quality of life additions when other companies rule with an iron fist on third-party tools that, debatably, don't matter as they aren't automating any real gameplay.

Quote From Mark and Jonathan

I certainly don't like you know like like there are things that I think cross the line a little bit any names well I don't know if I want to really to really do that but you know like yeah sure there are some things that I kind of don't love so much um maybe you're more uh more happy to name names Mark than I am but well no no I'm I won't there are some tools there are some tools that are talking about some that are not allowed

For example, look sometimes you go and trade with someone and they have unreasonably put all of that currency in the trade window faster than a human can, I'm like all right that's questionable and yeah I could do something about it but then I'm like well the fact that this many people need that is a development problem I want to fix so for example I think in 3.24 we're going to be pushing for if you control shift, well you know you can control click or your currency into the window if you do control shift click it'll put all of the currency of your inventory into that trade window all in one go right so now you don't need to have this illegitimate third party tool in order to do that and and once we have that feature then we can potentially start Banning the people who use that tool.

Well sure I'm not to say there isn't people being banned for it or not I'm just saying like I've gone and traded with someone and I see someone and you know like sometimes you go into like uh 300 latency and you want to control click your entire car inventory of divine or um chaos into a window and it's like with the 300 Ms latency it's like oh my God this is taking forever like come on and then sometimes you go to that same person to trade and they just like and you're like okay I don't know no one reports them because we love those we love those people buy a lot of. things nobody's reporting them yeah I know because there there's a reason we don't there's a reason we don't ban for that I could easily just be like all right I'm gonna I'm just going to become a police here or I'm going to be but it is but it is against terms of use because technically you are doing multiple actions on one thing and so that's against terms of use but at the same time we've kind of been like you know like I mean it would feel a bit bad for us to ban people for that right you know like yes yeah but at the same but at the same time we recogn you know so but therefore we come up with a solution to the problem we do that and then now it's like well now there's no reason for this tool to need to exist anymore and that that's an example of the kind of thing where we're kind of like yeah not so great um so sometimes there's implement the tool in the game and sometimes there's uh yeah just remove the need for its existence and do it ourselves.
