Font Not Converting to What I Want in Deck-Guide Section

Submitted 4 years, 11 months ago by

Hello there! I had an interesting bug while porting my deck from Hearthpwn (R.I.P) to OutOfCards. Then, I tried on blank template, and realized the issue was related to OutOfCards. Here's the problem: I wanted to change the font-type of a paragraph from Arial to Verdana. Despite my all efforts, the font type didn't change at all: I converted the section to Verdana, yet it showed that part as Arial. Some font types (Windings=Wingdings) work though, while some aren't. Could you check the bugged font-types?

Come to think of it, there are some font types I wish to see. It would be nice if you add Calibri and OpenSans, especially the latter because I used to write my deck-guides with that font types in Hearthpwn, which is clear/beautiful.

Also, thanks to all people who opened this site. You are all my hero <3

Sure Sinti, please have a look. Here, titles are different. "Welcome" and "How to Play?" sections are written with "Verdana" font-type, whereas  "Options...Options..." section is written with "Arial" font-type.

Btw, while we're at it, I realized just now that I can't access my decks within my personal profile, namely here.

As proof, here is the picture for the issue:

If the problem is from my part, could you tell me how to solve this problem? Have a good day.

I see those two sections in Verdana and the one in Arial, yes. Did you mean for it all to be Verdana? I can change it for you, if you want. Maybe what happened is that the font got changed cause you continued from the "picture description", which was in Arial? Or dunno, can you try making a guide for your other deck and see, if this issue happens again?

About not being able to access your decks via your profile, we are aware of this bug and will solve it later on, so for now, it is broken, yeah.

No need to change, I am fine with how it looks. As I am trying to migrate my decks -and guides- from Hearthpwn to here, I will sure let you know if that issue happens again.

Sorry to bring old topic back because I don't want to create same new topic again. There's a font issue I noticed just now regarding "Numbered Lists": When I created numbered lists with Arial font type (or with any font type), font of list numbers look very different, as if they aren't Arial or other font type. It looks as if font of list numbers are locked to Default font type or something. I believe it's a trivial request from my side, but if you change its functionality, I will be very happy.

Thanks for your answer in advance and have a nice day!

At first it seemed to me like it looks a bit different as well, but maybe its just the dark scheme playing with your eyes. When i tried the example below and increased indent on the last line to have it start in the same place, it looks like the text is the same, font wise.

    When I created numbered lists

I changed indent, then reverted to original place, yet it's still the same to me. Please Sinti, have a look at this deck if needed. I'm sure my eyes aren't deceiving me, there's some issue about font type of numbers.

Also, you can edit my deck if you must for debug purposes.

Oh, i didnt understand what you meant. You mean the actual numbers are wrong, i thought you meant the text in the list. Ok, i see it now. Will investigate.

Glad you both find the problem. Hope it will be fixed. I will sure let you know, again, if anything related to font issues is found. Thanks a lot, Chimera and Sinti.

As a workaround, you could go into the <> Source Code view of the guide and manually apply the style='" line to the OL element.

I don't know what sort of hack would be needed to get this to work correctly and truth be told, I think a lot of the current fonts the editor has shouldn't be used for writing guides. Open Sans, the default font (with Arial fallback if the font doesn't load) is so pleasing to the eye and very common across the web that its a bit of a shock when it gets changed up on the site. Increasing readability of guides means keeping the main font the same and then in certain places using something different for emphasis.

Headings are a cool spot to use a different font.

Also, I'm 100% removing wingdings at some point. Such a useless font these days.

I wish I knew how to use Source Code button, Flux, as it's too confusing for me. I wish I knew Computer Science or sth to help you out for hack or sth. Maybe you should have a look at Word 2019 or sth to grasp the idea? There, I made numbered lists, then I clicked on the numbers to change the font type, which are independent of what I wrote, seen here:

    Font

(Words are Arial, while numbers are Times New Roman)

Also, I'm in for removing useless fonts and adding important ones. Don't forget to add Open Sans because I couldn't find it anywhere when I want to choose from font types. Other than that, there is no need to rush for editing font types. I believe there are more important stuff you guys/gals need to do. So, have a nice day :D
