Path of Exile's 3.21 league is the Crucible! The league adds trees to weapons which can be unlocked by visiting a Crucible Forge inside of a map. Let's go over all the ways you can quickly farm experience to unlock those passive bonuses provided by your weapons.

    Important: How Crucible Experience Works

Crucible experience applies to weapons at the same rate no matter where it comes from. You could be on a brand new character, near the end of the campaign, or on t16 maps. No matter the source, the experience added from a Crucible Forge is going to be the same for each length of the difficulty channel.

The big difference, is how hard the molten monsters are that come out of the Forge.

On lower level content, it will be easier to complete Forges at 100% difficulty, which is the maximum amount of experience you can gain due to the monsters not hitting very hard and having much lower amounts of life. With this in mind, you'll want to be completing the easiest content available.

Best - Farming Low Level Campaign Areas for Crucible Experience

The best way to earn experience for your Crucible items is to farm a low level area in the campaign. Around level 30-40 is a sweet spot because you should be able to have some solid gear and there are plenty of different area options for you to use.

The only downside to this technique is that it will require a lower level alternate character.

Why is that? Well, Path of Exile won't spawn league mechanics in low level content if you are a high level character. Generally speaking, if you are over 10 levels above the Area, you won't be seeing league mechanics, like Crucible, spawn in the area. By using a "twinked" (overpowered with gear) lower level character though, we can very quickly farm this experience.

Excellent - Farming The Reliquary Campaign Area for Crucible Experience

The quickest and most effective method at a high level is to farm The Reliquary area in Act 10.

Any area that is level 65+ will spawn league mechanics for high level characters, The Reliquary just happens to have the best layout for finding Crucible Forges. Equip your favourite movement accelerating abilities, gear with extra Movement Speed, and you're off to the races.

You can see how straight The Reliquary is, excellent for speeding through.

Even with this being a quick way of hitting that 100% difficulty channel on the Forge, make sure you test your strength first by scaling it down for your first few runs to be comfortable. If you can place traps or pre-cast any abilities while they monsters are spawning, this will greatly increase the effectiveness of your molten killing potential.

You'll be taking advantage of resetting the area to create a new instance for the most efficient farming. Here is how I run this strategy:

    1. Teleport to Act 10 - The Reliquary.
    2. Complete the Crucible inside The Reliquary.
    3. Teleport to Oriath Docks via Portal Scroll. (Portal Gem could work too)
    4. Run to the Oriath Docks' Waypoint.
    5. Open the Waypoint.
    6. Control + Click The Reliquary to open the Instance Manager.
    7. Click New to create a new Instance.

Okay - Low Tier Mapping for Crucible Experience

The final method we'll be talking about today is running low level maps. If you don't want to be campaign instance farming, you can simply run all those lower tier maps you have likely accumulated on your way up. They will be more difficult than running The Reliquary, but you can sit in your hideout instead of having to visit the Act 10 town for resets if you're not into the whole "running to the waypoint" thing.

Finally, a use for those lower tier maps!

Make sure you've got your favourite movement accelerating abilities and gear with extra Movement Speed to quickly run through the map, and make sure you're using maps that you're the most familiar with so you can have a better idea of how their layouts are created. Try and stick to maps with open areas so you aren't slowed down by a maze or a million doors.

Most Importantly - Start Your Crucible Trees at T16

Now for the pro tip! If you are looking for strong passives or you really want to increase your chances for selling that weapon for a Divine thanks to the currency passive, you're going to want to start your weapon's tree off right - start it at T16.

By visiting a T16 map, you'll be able to get the highest possible rolls on your weapon's Crucible Tree. Each tier of map increases your chances of getting better items on the tree, and even longer trees, so complete the highest level maps that you can.

Once your weapon has had its tree unlocked, take it to any of the above methods to farm experience at 100% difficulty without issue.
