This looks really strong in a class that has limited access to removal. Sure, it's expensive but essentially this is either a 5-mana Fire Elemental or an improved and unconditional Groundskeeper (without the Taunt, but who's counting...).
While this is certainly intended to be post-rotation support to make up for the loss of defensive tools like Lunar Eclipse and Cenarion Ward I can already see it being a solid inclusion in most current Druid decks.
Worth noting that this is a great play after Wild Growth (or any turn 3 ramp card), which will be relevant once Overgrowth rotates
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
5 stars for the minion, 2 stars because its a druid minion. Its sad, because on its own the card is fundamentally sound, in fact its great. But trapped in a class that currently only plays either hyper aggro or ramp, this card just misses the mark.
Aggro druid has Park Panther, which comes out a turn earlier, and the healing is negligible in that deck. So no sound reason to have this card there. Ramp druid plays nothing but big stuff, where something like Cenarion Ward is simply the better option.
Well, there's some silver lining at least. The card is fundamentally sound, so maybe post rotation? Certainly not now.
Hmm interesting minion. Druid does have a lot of ways to combine the choose one effect, or split them in standard now and post rotation.
I think that pre-rotation it wont see much play, unless it's discovered.
Post rotation i think it might see play in ramp/control-ish druid decks. It's removal, which druid often has problems with and Lunar Eclipse is rotating. And it can be healing, which druid will need because cards like Cenarion Ward are rotating. I think Boomkin has a lot of potential in the next HS year.
Wild: This might slot into the Uldum quest Druid, because that deck often completes their quest after turn 4-5 which means you can play it with the combined effect probably on curve.
RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.
I can see this sneaking it's way into some wild decks with Quest Druid, and maybe some midrange support with Standard. But I am not seeing this be a mainstay right now.
I like it. Seems very good and is pretty diverse. This will see play in different druid lists even tough i think ramp/guff Druid will be the perfect place.
Challenge me ... when you're ready to duel a god!
Looks like a decent choose one card. Probably better options for healing and removal right now though.
