Colossus of the Moon - How can it be made usable?

Submitted 4 years, 8 months ago by

Hey there!

Im a sucker for big buff and high cost minion and absolutely love Colossus of the Moon but I'm afraid I havent found much use for it.

I am trying to fit it into a Plot Twist Deck that includes the new Warlock quest to possibly get a "cheap" 10/1 with divine shield or a free big boi in the late game.

Another option I tought of was a Zoolock Deck that tries to pull buff stuff out with Darkest Hour though it seems very weak to boardclears.

What are your ideas? Im thrilled to hear any opinion on this!

Big shaman or bust. Muckmorpher is probably the only somewhat reliable way to pull it out early and (ab)use it besides random Conjurer's Calling transforms.

I have made a thread about it, not that I'm advertising, but since you're asking for an ideas, people and I have discussed very few things of how viable of this card is, the discussion of it isn't over yet, so take a while to look at my thread and see any of the information you find that can help you.

Also hello there! I'm a fan of Colossus of the Moon too!

Ohhh, great to see 'nother fan!

I've taken a Look at ya thread and Im really impressed. I might have to try out a multitude of those decks sometimes soon but sadly big decks always cost a lot and Im often limited to making 1 Main Deck per expansion.

I already set my sights on Plot Twist Warlock tho so making more will require some tinkering but Ill make sure to post about the success of my deck (if there will be any)!

Well with big shaman you can eureka him out or get him with muck murpher

4/4 divine shield that when it dies becomes a 10/1 divine shield? and then if you put ancestral spirit or ancestral healling on him (Which are cards that are sometimes run in big shaman) you got yourself a very strong minion, or even a taunt for cheap currently the deck runs big bad archmage for winning the board, now this minion is harder to remove.

Also shaman got new control tools in Plague of Murlocs and Earthquake.

the other deck that might like it is duel paladin but it's more memey than big shaman.

Well, it would be a pretty good choice to pull out of your deck with Duel!.  I remember earlier on in RoS people were running Big Paladins.  Maybe you could try to make it work.

Seems like it can fit into Big Priest easilly. Speaking of, i wonder how will Reborn minions count towards Diamond Spellstone, would Reborn and non-Reborn copy be considered a unique minion?:o Probably not i guess.

    Okay, this guy knows it.

Control Shaman might outshine all the big decks out there when you want a reliable deck to beat sorts of decks out there, it was really good since the few weeks of last expansion.

Haven't played ranked in last month, but as a long-time shaman, I guaranteed that [Hearthstone Card (Plague of Murloc) Not Found] will be the main reason to play big shaman right now with the rest of his decent early board clear spells. In wild, I don't think control shaman was a thing. While this shaman has an alternative tool for sweeping those priests and outnumber his minions with yours. Or even possibly warlock, here's a story of in-game that my theorycraft shaman might outvalue warlock, could have beaten it:

I've planned a full anti-warlock deck, it's that in certain days where warlocks was playing with big demons, it was everywhere in casual to me, so I took anti-warlock theorycrafted deck with me to try it out...

One game, I have faced warlock, and we had so much a fight for gaining the tempo, he gets the board control, and I have got it back, vice versa. For what the match looked like, there were few elementals and demons, Thunderhead and Despicable Dreadlord was both the king of the mid-game. After both of us trying contesting for board control, Warlock used his DK hero card to resummon decent demons like Despicable Dreadlord and Voidlord.

I have completed removing them, afterward, I have used my theorycraft idea to outvalue Warlock for the long term: Sideshow Spelleater, so he won't keep sucking my life. When time passed by, we reached the fatigue stage. So one of his few cards remaining were N'zoth. When he played it, I had very few minions on the board and have no answers to his last plan, then he proceeds to use the other cards he has remained to BM'ing me with Hellfire and a long time unused Carnivorous Cube...

At that point, this Plague of Murloc could have me won me that game with 100% since I have the advantage of Health over my opponent. So It was so close..
Since big shaman is going to have one of the best AoE removal in the game, it might not have a great synergy with Colossal of the Moon, but he's going to have a good confidence enough to step out onto the board after tons of board clear from shaman.

I made a Plot Twist with Supreme Archaeology which uses [Hearthstone Card (Colossus of the Moon) Not Found] since his reborn mechanic makes him so powerful.

    Check it out: https://outof.cards/hearthstone/decks/4829-supreme-archaeology

Well, any big minion with useful stats can be put to use in a mage deck with the galaxy spell around to make it cost 1-mana. And then, after you used it a bit,  a Conjure's call on it will give you 2 fresh 10 mana minions to play around with, AND the reborn one to boot. That's one of the reasons I have been trying to use big minions with useful deathrattles instead of the mountain giant/sea giant. A conjure's calling on a big thing with a deathrattle can give you 3 big minions instead of 2. Value wise that is almost always better. But if you really need that taunt, than the mountain giant is your best bet.
