New singleton cards

Submitted 4 years, 9 months ago by

I'm curious what's your opinion on new singleton cards added in Saviors of Uldum.

Considering Wild obviously.

Elise the Enlightened Card Image Dinotamer Brann Card Image Reno the Relicologist Card Image Sir Finley of the Sands Card Image

In my view:

*Elise the Enlightened*

Nice value. And some combo potential. That's pretty much it. I don't see it being good enough to create Reno Druid.

*Dinotamer Brann*

Good addition to already playable Reno Hunter. Obvious 16 dmg potential finisher with older Brann. Besides it's good on its own.

7 mana King Krush that can immidiately impact the board. Plus free 2/4 body.

It's my favourite new singleton card.

*Reno the Relicologist*

Beacause of Reno Mage already being good, that card will be playable. But... In my opinion it's a disappointment. Why? Old Reno was good enough to create a whole new archetype across several classes. I was expecting new Reno to be at least somehow close to that level. But Reno the Relicologist is JUST a good card. Nothing more, nothing less. Helpful in clearing small boards, low health minions.

*Sir Finley of the Sands*

If Reno Paladin will be a thing, new Finley will be played in it. It's good, it's an upgraded version of old Finley. It may win you some games with new hero power value.

But the question is... Will there be a Reno Paladin? I honestly don't see it being played in nearest future. Sir Finley of the Sands is not even close to being good enough to carry Reno Paladin on it's own.

    I never apologize… I’m sorry but that’s the way I am.

    @griffior

I clearly stated that this topic is to discuss these cards according WILD and WILD only.

In order not to mess opinions with Standard.

The only one that could see play is Elise the Enlightened, if a consistent combo of some sort would show up. All the others seems to have weak effects that don't justify a singleton deck.

I have hope that the last highlander card, the neutral one that has to be revealed, will be something more interesting.

I mean, none of these cards are good enough to justify running a reno deck for it.

As you said Reno would go into reno mage, as that's already a valid deck, albeit quite weak.

Elise could go into some combo druid deck, but I feel like you won't get to use her much as those decks don't reach fatigue very often, and you definitely don't want to ruin your consistency by running no duplicates.

Amazingly interesting form a "mechanical" point of view, but I'm also going to immediatly test it out into Wild with good old Kazakus in my RenoMeca'thun Warlock. It could be a great addition there, but it also the best highlander card of SoU by far.

Wild Highlander decks might become even more interesting with addition of Zephrys.
