I really like this card, either its good or bad card, this can be atleast a nice quality of pack filler.

I really don't know how I feel about this dormant mechanic. It will require a lot of planning from you (while building your deck with dormant stuff) and from your opponent (when deciding how to deal with your dormant minions, once they pop out).

I believe it will make for some nice plays and strategies and I am happy that so many dormant minions are neutral ones and not stick to a certain class (DH, for example).

This one has sick stats for t2 and it will make immediate impact on the board... on turn 4. And it's a demon. So far so good. But is it good for aggro? Or for tempo decks? I don't think so. Maybe control decks? Just play it and let it rest for a bit? Or is the whole dormant cards some sort of niche shenanigans? The more I think about it, the more I get confused, so I guess I will just stop thinking about it :)

Reminds me a bit of Devoted Maniac. T4 „deal 2 Damage and Invoke" is good enough to see play, so maybe People will at least try a t4 „deal 3 and leave a Body"?

It's a really bad Topdeck though...

Take away the invoke and it will be literally the worst card ever printed in hearthstone history.

Imprisoned Vilefiend on the other hand potentially swings tempo on turn 4 and leave you with full 4 mana crystals to develop your own board. That's a far cry from Devoted Maniac's impact on curve.

I'm just not sold on this.

Drawing into any of these is just awful and if you don't get it on turn 2 it also feels clunky to play later on.

Tempo decks wanna push the advantage not give it up for later. Control decks usually have better options anyways.

Also, yet another nerf to Galakrond, the Wretched. Before we know it, that card might actually become as bad as everyone predicteed during reveal season.

    I tried having fun once.

    It was awful.

This card is weird. Like most minions, you cannot attack with it the turn you play it, but then you also can't attack the following turn, but then the turn it wakes up you can attack with it. It is like a regular minion that freezes itself, but it also won't die before it is able to attack.

As YourPrivateNightmare mentioned, these "dormant for 2 turns" minions would be pretty bad to topdeck into. But then again, that is what people said about Toxic Reinforcements and that card was pretty good. I think this card will be playable, but won't be played in hardly any decks because it will almost always be outclassed by cards that have more synergy with your decks strategy.

Waste Tempo on turn 2 to gain Tempo on turn 4.

Not bad, but unless  Dormant receives additional synergy, this card won't find room in a deck.

I guess a lot of hard time in prison really beefs up those Vilefiend from Uldum!

Jokes aside, not sure this is enough of a payoff for it's effect and stats. I guess you can view it as a 4 mana 3/5 with rush if you play it on 2. but that's if you have it on 2 mana

I'm starting to think they may print a ''if you control a demon, does X '' and that having an untargetable  demon on board will be its only purpose. ... at least, a Demonologist can dream ^^

For classes like Priest or Paladin with a turn 4 board clear or classes like Shaman with strong turn 4 minions, this could work out. Play it in the early game, tank some damage, and then use this and your clear/minions to wipe out the opponent's advantage. Voila - maybe you've just used only several cards to defeat more cards, giving you a leg up on the game. For that kind of strategy to work, though, I think it needs more cards that can fit with it, for consistency's sake.

I do love how these Dormant cards affect decision-making. Hopefully some end up being played.

    Better call Thrall!

This card could be used as preparation to deal with the wardens that are summond by Magtheridon.

This card is probably too slow for aggressive decks, but can be used for a power spike on turn 4.

    Great for control decks!

RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.

Don't have much faith in most of the dormant cards seems like an arena card.

Edit: And yet I rated most of them as "very good".. well I guess the most dormant cards were well designed this expansion, but I don't think this one is that great.

don't see this being useful in standard or wild..seems like they just need to fill in some more dormant cards but cant make them too op

I think this is actually quite a strong card. It costs some tempo on turn 2, but it also gives you a lot of it back on turn 4. Better than most imprisoned cards.

Comes in too late to have a significant effect on most aggro decks, especially if played after turn 2. Stat to cost ratio, like all of the dormants, is good, but stat to 'active turn' ratio is bad. This card doesn't really seem to be good against any specific archetype.

This post is discussing the wild format.

I don't like it. Too slow in my opinion (and some class have already better rush minion)

It has Rush, so at least it can directly effect the board when it awakens.

But same thoughts as all Dormant minions: It's great if you play it on curve! Too slow if you don't.

In the late game when you are relying on top decks, drawing a Dormant minion WILL make you lose the game.

This seems bad, but at least we can learn from it that a freshly awaken minion won't do anything. Which makes all the other imprisoned guys worse...

Probably too slow to see play. These Dormant cards are not as good as they need to be to justify wasting mana + time.

possibly one of the better imprisoned minions, as it attacks when it's no longer dormant, allowing you to remove an enemy minion without using up resources

A little slow, would be bad to get this from galakrond warlock and maybe the warlock prime, the art is cool though.

I don't think this card is bad. I mean, it is like playing ramp but for once. I think people evaluates cards a bit wrong.

Compare this with playing old Wild Growth for now. Ok, Wild Growth will give you more power at mid-game but this will also give some power to you at mid game. When you think about ramp, it just gives you fast end-game and does nothing when you play it on t2.

I mean, This is the same. Makes you stronger at mid-game but does nothing when you play.

So, dormants are (if it is not late game) does almost same thing with ramp cards. So, we should put dormant minions to our decks with considering this. I mean, you probably don't want to play this card in an aggro deck and you shouldn't because ramp cards are not for aggro style. But, you can build a ramp-like deck with dormant minions. It doesn't punish you so much unless playing 2 in a row.

The question really is whether or not Dormant pays off.

I would propose that for the most part... Dormant doesn't. Think of this in terms of topdecking mode: is this really a card that you want to topdeck? No way. This is basically a game over if you draw this while behind.

Sure, it has Rush for when it wakes up, but you might be dead by that point. This will have to fit into a deck that has a lot of drawing power, and if you have that in your deck, aren't there higher-power cards that you'd rather stuff in there?

Absolutely love the art on this one.

I guess it could see some play, but most classes have better things they could be doing I think. Least this one isn’t entirely useless as a top deck

Who needs consistency when you could have fun?

The payoff is not that great, doubt it'll see much play.
