Wild Hearthstone has thousands of cards, and a wide variety of possible decks. This incredible deck diversity is sometimes lost when only looking at the few decks common in the highest ranks. Wildest of Days is a series aiming to highlight a different off-meta deck each week with an in-depth guide into its strategy and gameplay. The decks are selected for having interesting synergies and using rarely seen cards. To see past decks in this series with updated cards guides, check out the Wild Deck Guide Compendium.

Curse Warlock is an archetype that benefitted greatly from the latest miniset. One of its weaknesses was from an opponent holding 10 cards in hand and not letting the deck get enough curses into the opponent's hand fast enough to win. With Immolate, the deck can force the opponent to dump their hand or have it burned.

Now, let's get into a guide on playing the deck. It's going to go through major overarching strategies to keep in mind, how to mulligan, gameplay tips on key synergies, and card choices.

Strategies

Curse Warlock uses Abyssal Curse generating cards to have linearly growing damage over the game while surviving with plentiful removal.

Abyssal Curse - Abyssal Curse generators deal damage that ramps up over the course of the game. You have to balance generating curses with survival. You can have curse generation slowly over time as well as turns with many curses at once using things like Brann Bronzebeard and Tamsin Roame to double curse generation. Runed Mithril Rod for discounts can let these multi curse turns be even more powerful.

Survival - This deck has plenty of removal to use to stall while your curse cards are ramping up.

Something to note is that Magtheridon can be both removal and attack to complement the curses.

Mulligans

Gameplay

The key to playing this deck well is to balance survival with curse offense.

Below are gameplay tips regarding many of the synergies in this deck and how to use them effectively.

In addition to generally generating once curse per curse card, you can get double the curses from minions with Brann Bronzebeard and double from spells with Tamsin Roame.

Tamsin Roame can also double survival spells like Drain Soul. Tamsin can double Abyssal Wave even if destroyed by it.

Queen Azshara can give Ring of Tides which can turn into a copy of an Abyssal Curse spell. Costing 1, it can also be doubled with Tamsin.

Loatheb can be used to delay curses being played.

To clear opponent hand space for curses, you can use Dirty Rats and Immolates.

Magtheridon is great for removal and as attack that can complement your curse damage. You can activate him with Defiles, Drain Souls and Dragged Belows, Abyssal Waves, and Dreadlich Tamsin.

Card Choices

This section is going to go through the main packages of cards in the deck. Each package has cards that help the deck with a specific goal. When playing the deck, it's useful to know what purposes each card serves and what other cards in the deck have synergy with it or help achieve the same purpose. This section might also be useful if you're interested in the reasoning for why each card was included in the deck.
