Except he can't wipe an entire teamfight with one E... :P

What amuses me about Garen is that not only is his kit pretty straightforward, it also hard wrecks some kits which are billed as high complexity - particularly Riven. The number of whines you get when you counter a Riven one-trick with Garen is phenomenal.

    Expecting? No...

    Hoping... Kinda...

Just immediately answering responses - he would be busted if he went to a 1 mana refresh with no other changes. Would immediately catapult any Brann-centric strategy through the roof.

Not that I'm saying the refresh cost isn't crippling, because it really is. But he's going to need some other downside before just buffing refresh cost is reasonable in my opinion.

All of these make sense as solid universal picks - most of the cards you're probably all thinking of are comp-specific. The two exceptions are Tidehunter - which is the best middle-of-the-road pick on turn 1, since it's 3/2 of stats with a 2 gold refund - and Cobalt Guardian which is ridiculously good even as a standalone minion in the early game if you just play one other throwaway mech.

Defender of Argus is the only one that surprises me though there's nothing mind-blowing at tier 4 - some decent picks, but nothing comp-defining. What surprises me is that Menagerie Magician wasn't higher than it.

I want my Quest Rogue to be unnerfed ._. it wouldn't even be good in Wild, just give me back 4-bounce and 5-mana-giggles!

The most interesting part of these statistics, in my opinion, is what you can infer from them blind. I haven't played ranked HS in quite a while, so I'm a little rusty on the meta - but from these stats I see:

    - Two of the highest winrate cards are boardwide AoE. That implies Mage is more likely to be behind on board at any given late-game turn, though a part of that winrate is likely due to the tempo shift of giving you a turn of empty board development. Blizzard being on the list itself supports the idea of being behind on board, given it's more potent from the freeze effect than anything else

    - Yogg's Box being up at the #1 slot is kinda damning really; although it has a SLIGHT positive bias due to some spells specifically targeting enemy minions, it's still obviously very random

    - Surrender to Madness being up there implies Mage is running either few minions, or expensive ones, or both. Losing three crystals (while not good, obviously) isn't THAT bad when you're at 10 mana by default; the pay-off not being worth it suggests the benefits are minor (or that you're already so far behind on board that the tempo-loss is backbreaking)

    - Myra's being on the list indicates Mage should obviously be running Chef Nomi for the outsider play. Clearly.

I feel like you should have spaced 'cast rates' there, because I can't help but think of a different word when it's written that way... though I suppose that IS kind of the effect of a Myra's pull :P

Wh- what is this 'fun' concept you speak of?

    I... I'm scared...

I mean... I'm not playing hardcore either, this past week was the first one I'd bothered to do anything but play Expedition to get my quests done, yet I have multiple competitive decks. Get a level 10+ vault each week, be decent at expedition and spend your wild cards wisely, you'll be fine

Not sure this was necessary - I am very aware of my singleness :P

It amuses me greatly to see nerfs line up for demons given that over the past couple months they've had to delete one archetype and nerf all the others before they got to this state.

Sure, they're geographically co-located. But geography isn't really something you will, or indeed can really notice in the context of a card game. The point of the post I'm replying to is indicating that they're similar-but-opposites in exactly the same way Demacia and Noxus are, with geography not coming into it at all - so yeah, my post remains valid.

The Thresh's expression certainly seems more exasperated or questioning rather than threatening. Much more of a 'CLICK THE LANTERN YOU FOOL' than a 'this is where you're going' image. Which makes zero sense in a LoR context, of course.

On that image they have a separate crest for zaun so maybe eventually they will separate them

Honestly I struggle to understand why they conflated the regions in the first place. Each of the release regions only has four champions associated with it, after all, so unless they're trying to keep them all even over the long term - which is tremendously unlikely for the Void unless they start inventing new champions - they could easily make them separate. The only explanation I have, really (aside from the evenly-numbered thing) is that they really struggled to translate champions into cards and so went with their four best designs

Except you could say the exact same thing about Demacia and Noxus.

Yeah, I really love the way Riot communicates with players. League has had consistent patches for so long so it is a very welcome return for Legends of Runeterra. Hearthstone and Blizzard are such a joke when it comes to regular game updates... minus Heroes of the Storm but they killed that game so it doesn't really count.

While true that League's patch system shows consistency, as a long-time player I'd say it's more a different flavour of irritation than a direct improvement. Rito's communication on patch notes was great a couple years ago, but has been getting steadily worse since then. There hasn't been a single patch note released in the past year that hasn't had at least one example of a change explanation being irrelevant to, or directly contradicting, the change itself - e.g. 'we want to take some power out of this champion's early game and focus on giving them a strong late game'; actual change just takes 10 damage off each rank of Q.

That's aside from their general pattern of buffing and nerfing semi-randomly, leading to something of a carousel effect where the meta changes much more because Rito decided to buff/nerf something rather than through a natural system of finding counters to established play patterns. Oh, and occasional manifest refusal to identify the real problem, such as massively overbuffing Conqueror and then deciding to blanket-nerf a bunch of champions that used it instead of, y'know, reverting the buff.

So yeah, it's not all sunshine and roses :P

Possibly weird, but I'll be wanting to get the token as a minimum every week - not for the rewards, but simply because I enjoy Expedition more than constructed right now and want to get it to be 'free-to-play' ASAP each week.

I wouldn't say broken, but it's a crazy strong mechanic which seems pretty underrated by the community in general (and has done for quite some time). The real power is in essentially removing the downsides of 'can't block' minions, in my opinion, as well as those whose effects trigger on attack.

Discovered today (though I should have known already, probably) that the weekly vault is capped at three Diamonds. Hmph. Roll on Tuesday.
