Leeroy Jenkins is the first legendary I tend to go for when I'm building a new account. He's in the classic set, so he shouldn't rotate out, plus he's a mainstay in a wide range of low cost, aggro decks. Zilliax is similarly good, although he rotates out next spring.
Having said that, as others have said above, you're better to focus on the deck you want to play, then work out which cards you need for it, rather than focusing on crafting standalone cards
Whizbang the Wonderful and Zayle, Shadow Cloak are great cards if you just want to play a bunch of different decks and explore different playstyles, but they aren't really competitive and aren't the best picks if you're trying to build a collection
Well just because something is in classic doesn't mean it won't rotate out (via HoF). Remember, this is T5 we're talking about the same group that backpedaled so hard away from the concept of an evergreen set and decided to go with HoF
Sure, but even if they HoF his new legendary, he gets his dust back... Technically HoF only benefits the collection as you keep the card and get a full refund... And I don't see them changing the way it works.
Renolock being the best is just plain wrong. Check literally any meta report and there'll be at least 3 warlock decks above renolock always.
@Jaybaseball1: I couldn't find any treachery warlock gameplay on youtube. You'd have most luck checking through Renojackson's (t.tv/renojackson_hs) VODs.
Cool, I'll be sure to take a look.
Does anyone else have any ideas??
Also, how is the cyclone mage? It's really cheap, and in tier one. (how I came across it) Does anyone recommend it?
Renolock is vastly overshadowed by the other decks you menionted.
Darkest hour warlock is a literal coinflip and gets boring REAL fast.
If you want to play the best warlock deck, play Even warlock.
Out of your list, Mecha'thun warlock is the best one, and you definitely need Hemet for consistency.
Another fun warlock deck is treachery warlock and probably a better version of the Sn1p-sn4p deck (but with a different win condition of course). This list is most likely the most competitive list: https://twitter.com/Goku_HS/status/1143839675473432577
If you want to get wins fast, you could also go for zoolock. Which is, depending on the epics that you have, also relatively cheap. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9AycLMPv2nw
Thanks for the insight. For the zoo, I'm only missing the hobgoblins, so I think I'll give it a shot. I do also enjoy evenlock (one of the decks I played extensively when it was in standard), and maybe I'll give it a shot in wild. It just feels bad crafting molten giant because I forgot to craft it when it was HoFamed xD.
The mill lock looks extremely interesting. Is there any gameplay on it, because I'd be curious.
Hey guys, I have been kinda bored of HS recently, and from experience, the best way to get back into it is to build a new deck.
As of now, I have three golden classes (warrior, shaman, and druid), and I am eyeing warlock to be my fourth, not only because he looks cool, but the class is so much fun.
So finding a deck wasn't hard, but I need your help narrowing it down. First, let me start with what I already eliminated and why:
I eliminated standard in general for two reasons:
1) The only archetypes are zoo and handlock.
2) I've played zoo to legend two seasons ago, so I don't really want to play that again soon. I've been experimenting with handlock, but it's really bad... I went from rank 2 back to 3.
So I turned my head to good old wild, which I really haven't played in a few months. The five decks that I am looking at right now are as follows:
1) Renolock. Missing: Zola (replacible?), Kazakus, Godfrey, and Mal'Gantis.
Pros: Competitive, and looks pretty fun. Cons: Not great Big Priest matchup, which I hate. Also, it's pretty expensive.
2) Darkest Hour Warlock: Missing: 2 Bloodbloom, 1 Darkest Hour, Mal'Gantis, 2 nerubian unraveler, Ysharaj (not even gonna try to spell that, and replaceable?)
Pros: Looks pretty fun when it works, faster than Renolock, and a better priest matchup
Cons: probably not the best competitive deck, could get boring after a while?
3) As writing cubelock I crossed it out because of how EXPENSIVE it is
4) Mecha'Thun Warlock: Missing: Mecha'Thun (lul), Bloodbloom, cataclysm, Hemet (is there a version that doesn't run him?), Solarium (probably replacible), Godfrey
Pros: Fun, good big priest matchup
Cons: expensive, especially if those two legendaries aren't replacible
I....may not be pre-purchasing the next HS expansion and instead putting more time into MTGA. I don't know how seriously I'll end up taking the game, but at the same time, I don't mind spending $50 if it's a good value and can let me play some cool decks.
Well, it is impossible to tell how many cards of 2020 will be used in this and next standard and core 2020 will rotate next year but it is a good price and it will give you wild cards to craft rare lands and other essential cards you want for building deck(s) you want to play.
Investing in the next set after 2020 may be a better choice because that one will stay in standard longer.
This. It's basically like 'you should pre order the first expansion of the year in HS rather than the last'.
I'm definitely here giving Out of Cards a legit shot. There's only a couple websites that I like for HS, so it's nice to have a good one that aggregates info. Combine this with reddit and I feel like you get most everything you need. I'm looking forward to the collection tracker support!
I play modern, standard, and occasionally draft. I play Grixis Death's Shadow in modern (if that wasn't obvious from my avatar), and some UW nill jank in standard.
And yes, I did draft MH1 yesterday! It was great, I drafted dimir ninjas and went 3-0, and pulling a foil Serra from my rewards packs! It was a blast, this is certainly one of my favorite limited formats.
Edit: I also play Temur Reclamation on Arena whenever I get free time, which isn't often because of school. (And finals are in a few days, so there won't be much magic for a while xD)
My brother tried to force ninjas super hard with little to no success, glad you got success out of it though! I've drafted twice and cracked an Astral Drift both times went 2-1 the first time and 1-1 before dropping due to time restraints. First time was Esper and the second was Jeskai with Tectonic Reformation
Also, Good luck with finals!
Nice! I had honestly not expected for [Hearthstone Card (Astral Drift) Not Found] to be good at all, especially in limited. What were your payoffs?
And about the ninjas, I got somewhat lucky to find two of the unblockable changelings, as well as a 1 Mana flier with scry 2 (name is escaping me), in addition to a [Hearthstone Card (Ingenious Infiltrator) Not Found], which closed out games really fast. Also, I got a Defile, which was excellent, and a decent counter spell suite in two [Hearthstone Card (Spell Snuff) Not Found]s. If I had to describe it, I'd say it was sort of a 'tempo deck with card advantage'. It was pretty busted!

Thanks again for the opinion and resources.

5) SN1P-SN3P OTK (fast version) Missing: solarium, thalnos
Pros: Good priest matchup, very cheap
Cons: Doesn't look super top tier, huge reliance on the snip snap draw
So my question to you is: which deck should I craft (if any), and do you have any other fun decks that I am missing/should try?
Sorry this is a few years long, and thanks for any answers in advance.
Corpsetaker
A card that synergies with NOT drawing certain cards from your deck.
Loot Hoarder
Used to cycle fast in OTK decks
Yeah this happens to me too. I now only use the recent forums section because you can't do it any other way.
TLDR; I don't think it's a user error
Scargil
4 Mana 4/4 legendary minion
Darkest Hour
Build around card
Bog Creeper
Classic finisher
Deathwing
When you think you've won and then suddenly...
edit: What I mean is like a huge game swinging card
Wild Pyromancer
"BOOM BABY BOOM! BAD IS GOOD! DOWN WITH GOVERNMENT!"
The first time I read it, I fell out of my chair laughing so it's got to be my favorite.
Congratulations! I currently have three: Warrior, shaman, and druid. (In order I've obtained them)
Warlock is like half way there, and so is hunter and mage, but pally, priest, and rogue are like all less than or around 100 xD
I started playing during LoE btw.
Corridor Creeper
Incredibly OP neutral card

Yes and hopefully it's better than innkeeper!
That makes two of us.
