Hi, thanks for creating this little guide :) Tho there is an easier way, on every deck page, there is "Copy BBCode" button, among other things, that does exactly what you are describing :)

Ah; I was sure there had to be a better way.  Thanks, Sinti!  Updated

I also like the MF/Quinn deck: seems like a natural combination. Don't have either champion, though, so if I'm gonna craft it might be easier to stick with what I have and do the Ashe deck.

Honestly, you could probably substitute Quinn for Razorscale Hunter and still do fine.

...Since this comes up, and its not really a straight-forward process.  If anyone has a better explanation let me know and I will edit; if any Moderator could sticky this thread it would be appreciated.

    1. In the menu section, click on "Deckbuilder" (between "Decks" and "Expansions")
    2. On the far right, find the "Import" button.  Paste your deck code into the adjacent field and click "Import".
    3. After a short pause, your deck should come up.  At the bottom, give it a Name and an Archetype and click "Save".
    4. Your web browser should take you to a new page with your new deck like this: https://outof.cards/legends-of-runeterra/decks/537-battle-scars
    5. On that page, find the "Copy BBCode" button and click it.  The code will automatically be copied to your clipboard.
    6. In your forum post, paste your clipboard's new contents into your post.  (Alternatively, if you remember the number from the URL of your deck's page, you can manually type it out then highlight it and click the "Runeterra Deck" button to make the code on-the-fly.)

While you're writing the post it should look something like this except with square brackets instead of squiggly brackets:

       {runedeck}537{/runedeck}

However when people view your post it will look like this:

Again, that's the best way I know.  If anyone knows a simpler way I'd love to hear it.

How do share a deck? Just take a screenshot of it?

    A few ways:

    1. Create a new deck on this site (you can import your deck code), save it, record the number, then in your post write the number and do the "Runeterra Deck" tags around it
    2. Create a new deck on Mobalytics, then copy their URL and/or their screenshot and paste it here

    Karma

She's not quite as annoying (or as prevalent) since Rising Tides, but for the 2nd half of the open beta she was essentially a "must have" for any control deck so she effectively defined the meta, which is always a big Two Thumbs Down in my book.  Not to mention she could / can still do so many things which just seem broken to me from an implementation point of view (e.g., counting her spells towards Lux's progression and L2 Ezreal's ability, shuffling 2 copies of herself when casting her signature card, etc).

The problem with these wildcards, is I have pretty low tier champion, and want to save my wildcards for high tier champions. But I keep getting wildcards instead of champion

I wouldn't get too tied up in "low tier" and "high tier".  This isn't like Hearthstone where certain Legendaries end up just being dust fodder--Riot is doing a fairly impressive job tuning both the high-performing AND the low-performing champions, so pursuing off-meta decks doesn't mean you're wasting your resources long-term.

Some of my first champions were Vlad, Kalista, and Ashe who were (and largely still are) virtually unplayed.  They are now the highlights of my 3 favorite decks, despite the fact I could probably make every so-called "Tier One" deck.

    Champions come from:

    • Weekly Vault (randomly picked at L5-L9, wildcard at L10+)
    • Region Rewards (random from that region at L8 and L16; L18 will be a wildcard; L23 will be the new expansion's for that region)
    • Spend 1 champion wildcard to craft a champion of your choice
    • Spend 3000 shards to craft a champion of your choice
    • Spend 300 coins (roughly $3 USD) to craft a champion of your choice
    • If you log in every day for your first week (no matches necessary), you'll get 1 free random champion and 2 free Ashe
    • They've done a couple Twitch Prime rewards where you get 1 free wildcard of each caliber (including champion) just for linking your account
    • On very rare occasion: a card from a vault or regional reward will be upgraded to a random champion.  It's happened to me 3-4 times so far.

As iWatchUSleep suggests, running each region to L8, then jumping to a new region and running it to L8, etc will get new players the most champions the quickest--especially now with the bonus XP system (although bonus XP only applies to the original 6 regions, not Bilgewater).  Try to get to L10+ on the weekly vault--it shouldn't be that hard if you complete 7 quests and redeem your free expedition token each week.  Finally: don't be ashamed to run a deck with 2x champions instead of the prescribed 3x: obviously it won't be as good, but often it's good enough.  You can use either a card-drawing card or another champion who is just inherently "good" (e.g., Elise, Garen, Zed, etc) to fill the hole.

If you suspect your opponent is running The Ruination, follow these steps to play around it:

    • Step 1: Build up a "sufficiently threatening" board
    • Step 2: If they have 9 mana and your board is still threatening, always open attack
    • Step 3: If they have 9 mana  and your board is  still threatening, pass
    • Step 4: if they play something that leaves them at less than 9 mana, assess if your board is still threatening.  If it is, pass.

I can't really give you a guideline for "sufficently threatening", because its different for every game--e.g., against Corina Control you really don't want the game to go past Round 10, but for Warmother's Calling you arguably have more time.  The basic idea is the same for both though: YOU are putting them on a clock.  Even if you only have 6 attack on the board, if they have no blockers and only 12 health that means they only have 2 attacks to change the board state or they lose.  If they play a blocker, then you try to play just enough to match and restore the "sufficiently threatening" state.  For 9 mana Ruination takes close to if not entirely their options round, so you want them to play it either on your attack round AFTER you've attacked (they can't develop attackers) or on their attack round (they can't develop blockers).

The other thing to remember about SI is that is most of the current meta decks are pretty high-rolly.    For instance Cursed Keeper -> Butcher on Round 2 for 7 attack is just nuts--but that assumes you draw two specific cards practically in your starting hand, and both those cards can be very awkward without synergy.  Plenty of games where I've needed Ruination but instead keep drawing Vengeance, or vice versa.  In the big tournament this past weekend most competitors actually were doing control decks WITHOUT SI because they wanted some more consistency.  So when they do high-roll and draw the perfect answers just in time, accept that that's not statistically representative and move on.

Thanks for the vid, Charm3r!  It definitely helps more than a simple decklist.  One peice of constructive criticism: if you're going to include a long deck explanation like that, consider including a "to the matches" shortcut in your video description.

How good is this kind of play style as you get higher in the ranking? What are good counters for this kind of deck, and how can you keep from being countered?

Your deck is unconventional so its hard for me to judge, but I'd guess you're probably fairly weak against Vanguard Bannerman decks.  The hard counter to Bannerman is The Ruination, but I that's not really a good fit for your deck.

However, I have no idea what reward regions to go for lol.

If you're just starting out, I'd recommend pushing to Level 8 on all the core regions (i.e., everyone except Bilgewater).  You'll get 2x bonus progression, lots of quick cards, and at L8 a guaranteed random champion.  After that, I would probably push Bilgewater to L8, then  just go to whatever region you enjoy playing and/or want more cards from.

I've considered Runeterra since it seems to be the new hotness and it is available on android

Come play.  I can barely bring myself to play HS any more; just having so much more fun with LoR.  I think you can still qualify for the free Ashe deck if you login every day for your first 7 days, too.

At the risk of revealing what a huge Mogwai fanboi I am, here's an interesting GP + Swain deck he posted earlier this week.  Unfortunately I'm still a ways away from crafting it myself, but I think it plays out like a less-aggro/more-controlly version of the first deck on this post.

Fizz is one of those champions that I'm too scared to actually spend wildcards / shards on, yet I secretly wish I owned so I could experiment with him.

Basically: anything that heals.  Direct damage spells are relatively low-value in this game, so even if you are just managing to undo what they did they will run out of gas quick.

for regular spells like Get Excited I can just drag the spell back to my deck, but I can’t seem to do that for the discard ones because my hand just magnifies and takes over a lot of the screen.  Thanks!

Get Excited! is a discard spell too?  Regardless: on the PC interface, you do the same thing you mention: drag the circular spell icon from the battlefield back to your hand, and the spell automatically aborts.  Rummage is a bit special in that its burst speed so it fires as soon as you select the cards, but again you can still put it on the stack and take it off before selecting to abort it.  You mention iOS but I think this may have more to do with your screen size: I have a 8.5" Android tablet that I play on sometimes, and I recall still being able to see both the spell icons and my hand.

It could just be a quality-of-life issue for phone users that Riot has yet to address.  There will be a new infrastructure patch on Tuesday morning; maybe it will include something for this.

So basically if you want to either climb the ranks or unlock rewards fast you will have to play an aggro deck.

Fair point, but I would argue that this interaction is representative of every digital card game.  In Hearthstone for example, people will often speak about having 2 decks to climb ladder: a win-fast/lose-fast aggro deck to climb all the lower rungs and then a higher-winrate-but-slow control deck for the upper rungs.

Speaking off, how does it work when you Toss a card with puffcaps on it? Does it fizzle out or does it damage your Nexus?

The shrooms are gone without damage.  The advantage of a Teemo deck is that doubling 10 shroom across 15 cards is just as deadly as doubling 20 across 30 cards.  Otherwise: if you're counting on your shrooms for damage, against a Toss deck you'll generally want to save them until late game.

Lucky me, I haven't played against this deck archetype yet. It sounds like an awful time.

I think the reason you haven't run into this archetype is because, despite the OP's sentiments, its not very good.  There is TONS of removal in the meta now, so Teemo decks in general aren't very viable (which is a shame IMHO because he's the card that otherwise could really punish all these Toss decks).  And Sejuani isn't that hot either--she actually is the most successful with decks that just use her L1 form as removal + a 5/6 overwhelm body, almost entirely ignoring her level up ability.   She's just too slow to deal with the likes of aggro burn and Bannerman 2.0, and doesn't generate enough value to deal with the likes of Sea Monsters and Mill-kai.
