I for one will miss your contributions to the forums and your awesome decks/guides and comments. Take care and good luck! Hope we'll see you back before too long :).
All I know is this: duplicate protection has been a great thing for people who play this game. Scholomance Academy is the first expansion where I have essentially all the epics (missing two cards) without having crafted any. I bought both pre-orders, and used gold for a three dozen more packs. It's been a huge quality of life improvement.
It also allowed me to build out my rares/commons collection in Wild really efficiently a couple months ago - I used gold to buy old expansion packs to broaden my reach in that format.
I'm in the exact same boat. I held onto nearly all my Scholomance duplicates (only rares and commons, of course) in the hopes that something might get nerfed and I could cash in. I dusted a small handful of them that have seen no play (so far), but am still holding out on the remainder.
I'm beginning to wonder if nerfs are coming at all - the meta seems pretty diverse to me. I don't think there's a class that feels oppressive (maybe rogue at the moment?) in terms of how much I see it in the constructed ladder - and nothing is unbeatable.
I was sitting on about 20,000 dust before Scholomance's release because I have analysis paralysis and and an irrational fear of dusting something that I will regret later. I play wild, so I don't dust at rotations, and I don't dust non-duplicates.
I just don't feel in my gut like nerfs are coming soon - and if they do, the cynic in me bets they'll nerf a legendary or an epic (like Guardian Animals or Secret Passage) where I don't have duplicates.
I enjoyed this article, thanks for pulling it together. I thought the most interesting challenge was the issue with coordinating the voice actors in the WFH environment when studios were closed.
This is a brutal brawl. I got stomped on by Jade Idol, Coldlight Oracle, and Naturalize my first time through, so I paid it forward and destroyed my next opponent with the same. I won't play again.
Just hit legend for the second time ever, with Pure Paladin. I was not stressing about the ladder this month (I really haven't since I made legend the first time in April of this year) - my goal before, and since, was/is Diamond 5 for the free epic.
I have been trying to grind wins with Paladin, so I focused the past two days on that class, after giving Priest, Demon Hunter, Hunter, two kinds of Rogue, Paladin, and Mage a try (in varying degrees of seriousness). I made it to the "final boss" three times before today, but each time lost and fell back a few stars. I think I spent the past two weeks in D1-D3. Finally strung together the final 4 game win streak and punched through!
My last opponent was a mirror, which is a matchup I have really struggled with. But this time, the trades and tempo just went my way in the mid-game and I got a couple bigger minions to stick and the winning card was a Light's Justice which I scored off my Lightforged Crusader on turn 8. I was able to face-tank a divine shielded taunt and with the stats I had on board my opponent conceded.
Hope this encourages others to keep striving and don't get too frustrated out there on ladder!
Amen to all of this. I only play arena when I am given a free ticket attached to a pre-order or for an arena rotation, because the cost doesn't feel like a risk I want to take.
This deck looks awesome. Great write-up too! I'm just not sure about crafting 2x Arcane Fletcher and 2x Krolusk Barkstripper. I also don't have Bloodmage Thalnos, but I have fewer reservations about that one.
Congratulations! Hitting legend for the first time is a great feeling (I've only reached once, but reach the diamond top ranks every month in both Standard and Wild, usually). Happy for you, see you out there on the ladder!
I just want to say, thanks for putting these GM pages together each week! I appreciate having one place to return to to a) get info and b) get all the stream links if I want to catch a few minutes of the tournament at a time.
I loved even Paladin back in the day before they nerfed Call to Arms! I got Genn Greymane as my free login legendary at the outset of The Witchwood (I think there was a freebie(?) - if not, I unpacked him on day one), and I loved all the even archetypes. I played budget versions, but they were fun - and I played a ton of even Shaman in wild.
For my included legendaries, I got Shan'do Wildclaw and Disciplinarian Gandling. I didn't unpack any legendaries in the packs (I had recently hit legendaries in both types, so pity timers were very low). But I got 8 epics, so definitely above average in that regard. Congrats to everyone who got great pulls!
I got High Abbess Alura for my login freebie on Day 1 of Scholomance. I also unpacked Lorekeeper Polkelt and Mozaki, Master Duelist from packs, so I am doing pretty well on this list! I have not used the latter two at all yet, but I found some decklists that incorporate them. I see Speaker Gidra all the time on ladder - a good card in both Shaman and Druid (mostly see Druids, but every Shaman I have faced has it too).
I opened Whizbang the Wonderful too! I will keep him because I am a “collector”, but what a dumb thing!
LOL.
This is disappointing.
Edit: disappointing that there's no new voicelines, not the investigative journalism that makes OoC great!

Ah, right.
I really doubt they'll give a free run in the brawliseum - have they ever done that before? I can't recall...

And... it wasn't a fluke!

How is this deck faring?

I don't think so. Legendaries received outside of packs shouldn't impact pack openings.

Amen - I appreciate all the content, and the well written guides!
