Deckbuilding articles are always fun to read, and incredibly insightful. Great job!

Quest Hunter is so much fun. Once you've finished the quest, it feels so satisfying to let your opponent fill his board with minions, only for you to spring Unleash the Hounds on them, buff the hounds with Ramkahen's Roar, then just SMOrc him to death.

Dungeon Run for me. It was the first version of that gameplay format, and I loved every single minute of it despite being incredibly difficult to finish with all classes. I went weeks without playing Standard because I was busy playing Dungeon Run. The novelty has since worn off and the gameplay's gone stale in the solo adventures that followed, but Blizzard has done a good job adding tweaks to it (the shrines in Rumble Run were nice, if only they gave you the option to choose one at the start instead of offering three random ones).

Pressure Plate can be such a bummer sometimes. I played Giggling Inventor in the late game then mutated in into an Octosari, only for the secret to trigger and kill it, effectively emptying my deck and sending me to early fatigue. Because I overdrew my hand, I even managed to burn the Immortal Prelate that I got from an earlier evolve, which I was banking on to save me from fatigue death.

I just had this crazy game against a Quest Priest today as a Battlecry Shaman. He had this one turn when he played Zerek's Cloning Gallery, and though I managed to kill them all with a Sandstorm Elemental, they were shuffled back into his deck through Spirit of the Dead. This way, he managed to get some extra Khartut Defenders. Then he played Mass Resurrection a couple of turns later, which revived High Priest Amet and Defenders, which is insane because the reborn Defenders copied Amet's life as well. As the game progressed, he just kept dropping those extra Defenders with Amet on board (which kept getting +3 +3 through the upgraded hero power). He played another Mass Resurrection which summoned ANOTHER High Priest Amet, and it just looked like an impossible situation for me.

Luckily I had two Mind Control Techs in hand, allowing me to steal one Amet and a Defender. It still wasn't enough as his Amet had 16(!) health by then, and he had a board full of high health minions and I was already in fatigue. On the turn that he was about to deliver lethal, he roped, which I took as BM. Nonetheless, I said "well played" then hit the concede button. But as soon as I hit the button, the Inkeeper's scruffy head just popped in to say my opponent had left! Kinda felt sorry for the guy because he earned that win, he didn't deserve to be disconnected.

But that's how it goes. I'm currently 9-0 with Battlecry Shaman, which is a lot of fun to play.

First let me say.... I LOATHE HUNTER.  I hate playing it.  I hate playing against it.  I really really hate Hunter.  With that being said, Unseal the Vault is ridiculous card and is really easy to pull of by turn 6 or 7 consistently.  I remiss in that I spent my lat 1600 dust on it.  But since I did, I did an autocomplete deck with that being the only card I added directly, and have been on an awesome win streak.  I hate that I like.  I hate that it is solid.  I hate that it can only be consistently killed by combo priest.  But it is actually really solid quest.

It actually looks fun to play. I'm thinking of dusting my golden Making Mummies to craft this, since the Paladin quest just bores the hell out of me.

Hilarious avatar, btw. Found myself singing the song in my head.

I can't believe I still lost to this Quest Mage who BURNED the quest reward because of a full hand from overdrawing. He just played Archmage Antonidas and and Fireballed me to death over the next few turns.

I just hate that I keep losing to this stupid deck whenever I face it. Like a sports team that can't beat their rival no matter what they do (like the Bruins with the Canadiens, or the Red Sox losing to the Yankees for 80 years before finally breaking the curse). I just freeze up mentally whenever I see Open the Waygate being played on turn 1. Grrrrr

Thank you Zephrys, for allowing me to top-deck you and granting my wish to be a Token Hunter, so I could smash this stupid Mage's face with an army of mechs spawned by a fallen SN1P-SN4P. You truly are great!

As others before me have already said, OOC is the superior community. OOC is like a distilled version of every Hearthstone forum out there, since most of the great and interesting members from Hearthpwn migrated here. As a result, there are very few salt/whiny threads and more interesting and intelligent discussions, as well as excellent feature articles on the front page, which I think is a paradise for those who love this game (like me). Forum activity could be better, but I have no doubt that will improve over time.

The worst forum I've ever visited has to be the one on the official Hearthstone website. Nothing but toxic complaints, whining, and "old man yells at cloud" threads. It's a hell filled with jaded, bitter, and angry HS players raging against the small indie company we know and love.

Nerfs do more to shake up the meta, it's only logical that they do. The top decks and problem cards can be targeted, thus effecting the entire meta to shift to the change of power.

Buffs shouldn't do this. They should give some cool cards that ended up being duds, a 2nd chance.

This is the point I agree with most. While I love that the dev team introduced buffs, they shouldn't result in the latest oppressive deck like what Luna's Pocket Galaxy did with Highlander Mage. Buffing a few cards should naturally introduce variety to the meta, but a problem arises when they warp the meta towards a few classes.

In a way, the buffs were successful in this regard. Shaman's playrates were low before Thunderhead enabled new aggro archetypes for the class. Priest was dead in the water until it benefited from the Extra Arms buff (albeit short-lived). Glowstone Technician allowed Mech Paladin to enter the meta as a semi-viable (if not polarizing) deck. The buffs kept the meta somewhat interesting because they gave previously useless cards a competitive edge; it's just that a few classes benefited more than most (Mage), or some were already terrorizing the meta (Warrior).

I just queued against three Mages who all played Luna's Pocket Galaxy by turn 4 (they all used the coin). Insane. By turn 7 they have Archmage Antonidas, [Hearthstone Card (Mountain Giants) Not Found], and a King Phaoris-generated board to stomp me. It's like the Barnes of standard--if they draw it on curve you're just fucking dead.

Buffing that stupid card has to be one of the worst moves ever made by Blizzard. Even the tournament scene has been affected, most of the decks I see are Mage thanks to this card.

I mostly disenchant extra copies of cards, but I hold on to those that I *think* have potential to be nerfed in the future especially if I have golden copies of them. These are cards that I feel have mechanics/effects that can be abused by players to the point that a nerf will be warranted. Some examples include Togwaggle's Scheme, Time Out!, Hyena Alpha, etc. As you can see, none of these have been nerfed, so that makes me a pretty poor judge :P (I hit the jackpot by keeping 6 copies of Level Up! before though, so there's that).

Since I didn't get them from packs, I crafted Zephrys the Great and Siamat because they're probably the "safest" crafts out there. Siamat feels a little overrated though, but still useful.

I'm still thinking about crafting Shudderwock for a Quest Overload Shaman.

Great guide! Zephrys is such a uniquely designed card, a guide like this is just what we needed.

Only 2 cards need a nerf for standard, and that is Dr. Boom, Mad Genius, and Conjurer's Calling

Took the words right out of my mouth. I hope they don't nuke Dr. Boom, maybe just slightly tweak the rush mechanic and some of the hero power options.

Conjurer's Calling is just a problem. Dropping a Mountain Giant on turn 4-5 then multiplying it with this card is just too frustrating to deal with for non-aggro decks. And it's a twinspell, making it doubly frustrating. Maybe the mana cost will be upped, or the twinspell mechanic removed.

Highlander Hunter being a relatively strong deck is surprising. Dinotamer Brann + Zephrys the Great is enough to restrict a deck into a singleton, who knew.

Aggro/Tempo Warrior is seemingly strong according to some sites, but when I play it I get slaughtered by other more aggressive decks out there. I don't face it as much on ladder too.

Quest Paladin is actually viable, despite being voted one of the worst quests.

Just got shat on by the luckiest fucking quest priest ever. Turn 5 he completed his quest.

When I try it, "Nope, fuck you. Have shite draws and face super aggro for 10 games in a row"

Fucking beyond inscenced right now. I literally want to punch that lucky fucking cunt straight in his dumb ass face

I feel your pain. Happened to me too, the Quest Priest completed it in 5 turns and just steamrolled me from there.

That said, I haven't seen many Quest Priests on ladder. When I do though, they're incredibly hard to win against if you don't manage to rush them down.

Quest Paladin (I call it "Mechromancer" because of the reborn and mech minions) is a lot of fun and is incredibly annoying to deal with. I won 7 straight with the deck until I ran through a gauntlet of aggro/tempo decks, which it just loses miserably to. Of course, I didn't face a single Control Warrior in all of my matches despite that deck being my most favorable matchup. Way to go, Blizzard...

I'm trying out a regular Secret Hunter with only Hyena Alphas Hunter's Pack, with Zephrys the Great included for the late game. It's working out fine so far, I'm 5-1 with it. I find the highlander version too inconsistent for a tempo deck. My opponents also aren't prepared when I play two straight Hyena Alphas.

I'm adding Plague of Wrath to my favorites because of the animation. Best one in the game by far

When I first saw the card, I remember thinking that Reno looked like he was carrying an armful of baguettes instead of scrolls lol
