On The Angry Chicken Podcast this week, Garrett and Hat had time to sit down with Chadd "Celestalon" Nervig and Liv Breeden to discuss the next expansion and they brought Tiki Ragnaros' voicelines with them!

The action begins at 27:38 (linked below in the video) in their dedicated interview segment. Here are the voicelines we got to hear.

  • Who dares enjoy my tasty refreshments?
  • Now you shall see the power of Ragnaros, Tikilord!
  • Taste the flames of the Sulfuron Slammer!
  • The beach bar is always open, INSECT!
  • Grow big or grow legs is what I always say.
  • You're crushing them! Burn them to cinders!
  • You're getting crushed INSECT!
  • What do you mean you can't concentrate? RELAX!
  • Sometimes I get tired of yelling. HAH! JUST KIDDING!
  • Give a man a fire and he's warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he's warm for the rest of his life.

We'll have a full preview of Tikilord Ragnaros' voicelines once the patch that contains them is released, so stay tuned for that.

Tiki Ragnaros Voiceline Trivia

There are a few references in Ragnaros' voicelines that Hearthstone players may not recognize.

What is a Sulfuron Slammer?

This drink, added in the "Fury of the Sunwell's" Minor Patch 2.4.2, is a consumable item that is purchasable in Blackrock Depths from a Leper Gnome named Plugger Spazzring, the owner of the Grim Guzzler tavern. After consuming the drink, players catch on fire temporarily and take 4 damage every 3 seconds, for 2 total ticks over the 6 seconds the buff lasts. This isn't enough damage to kill even a level 1 player, not that you can even drink it since it requires level 13.

As Althizor, a commenter on Wowhead, points out, this item counts as a spell cast which can then activate certain items that one may be wearing. In their case, they drank the brew, triggering their Shattered Sun Pendant of Acumen necklace which then aggro'd the entire Grim Guzzler bar. The bar, which is an optional combat encounter in Blackrock Depths, can be quite an annoyance to fight if one was adventuring alone at level 70.

As far as Sulfuron goes though, you'll recognize the voiceline as it is already in Hearthstone - "Taste the flames of SULFURON!". This a throwback to Ragnaros' voiceline in the Molten Core raid in World of Warcraft where he yells said line upon knocking melee characters back from him.

To my knowledge, and I can't seem to find a consensus about this online, there is no singular "Sulfuron" that Ragnaros is talking about. The prefix on items and monsters in World of Warcraft looks like it may just be a fancy way of saying Sulfur.

  • Sulfuron Hammer - The predecessor to creating Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros, a legendary two-handed mace.
  • Sulfuron Ingot - A forged bar that is dropped by a boss in Molten Core, Golemagg the Incinerator. 8 of them are needed to make Sulfuron Hammer.
  • Sulfuron Spire - The entrance to Ragnaros' Firelands in the elemental plane, found in Mount Hyjal.
  • Sulfuron Harbinger - A boss in World of Warcraft's first raid which also featured Ragnaros, Molten Core.

Note that players do refer to Sulfuron Harbinger as simply "Sulfuron", but nothing definitively proves that this is what Ragnaros has been referring to all these years. Plus, why would his crony be responsible for his awesomeness?

Never Skip Leg Day

Rangaros' "Grow big or grow legs is what I always say" line is heartwarming to players of World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. The third expansion from Blizzard for the MMO, Ragnaros was featured in the second tier of raiding content inside the Firelands raid. Back then, there were two difficulties of raiding - Normal and Heroic - and sometimes Blizzard liked to create special mechanics on the Heroic mode that went above and beyond.

Ragnaros in Molten Core.

In Vanilla, we fought Ragnaros in the Molten Core and he was just a swirling mess of fire who remaining static in lava. This would be enough for those who fought Ragnaros again in Cataclysm's Firelands raid on normal difficulty, but for heroic, Blizzard had different plans.

Ragnaros in Firelands.

Heroic mode, after getting Ragnaros down to the same point one would on normal when he was defeated, Ragnaros would then jump out of the lava he was in and... HE HAD LEGS!

Beautiful legs!

This was memed about hardcore when it was originally datamined.

Blizzard, we need a characters with legs Hearthstone expac. Stat!
The Daily Blink is offline but the image was found on Mitarn's blog.

Yeah, it was an extremely funny moment and its great to see Hearthstone pay homage to one of the more interesting parts of World of Warcraft's raid history.
