This expansion's Rewards Track is offering players a couple copies of School Teacher, so if you've been keeping up with your homework you should have two Golden pedagogues in your collection. School Teacher is possibly the most flexible card in the current meta, seeing play in a variety of decks and classes thanks to its 1 Cost Nagaling students learning all sorts of spells. We've grabbed seven of the most popular decks from HSReplay featuring our tenured friend, and as a bonus we'll also talk about the most popular spell choices for each class.

All data about deck popularity and Discover choices come from HSReplay.

Best Decks and Discovers for Warrior

Shield Block Card ImageFrom the Depths Card Image

Warrior uses School Teacher as yet another defensive measure for its slow Control decks, packing on the Armor in standard Control Warrior or the increasingly-popular Charge Warrior list that seeks to stall out the game while setting up some combination of Captain Galvangar, Mr. Smite, Faceless Manipulator, and Battleground Battlemaster for the OTK.

Warrior's favorite spell to Discover is Shield Block, edging out From the Depths thanks to its utility against aggressive decks. Likewise, 3 Cost Armor gaining spells like Heavy Plate and Bash round out the class's top 4.

Best Deck and Discovers for Hunter

Aimed Shot Card ImageRamming Mount Card Image

The recently buffed Beast Hunter figures that knowledge is power, and likes that School Teacher offers a powerful 4-Drop minion who doesn't interfere with Pet Collector while playing well with Hunter's Naga spells.

Unfortunately, HSReplay doesn't have data on Hunter's most popular spell picks for School Teacher, but our best guess is that Aimed Shot, Animal Companion, and Ramming Mount are all predictably solid choices due to their Mana Cost, while Devouring Swarm could be a sneakily fun option in the right situation.

Best Deck and Discovers for Priest

Switcheroo Card ImageBless Card Image

Another winner of the recent buff patch, Serpent Wig Naga Priest has shot up in popularity thanks to the extra Health on the 1-Cost spell and is a ready home for School Teacher, as the 4-Drop provides two refreshes of the Wig's Naga requirement.

Priest's best Discovers are a patchy sort, as most popular choice Devouring Plague can be good against the right board, but doesn't have a very high winrate when compared to spells like Switcheroo, Stormpike Aid Station, and Bless. Our guess is that the latter three will gain more popularity as Bless Priest continues its ascent.

Best Deck and Discovers for Mage

Runed Orb Card ImageWildfire Card Image

Naga Mage is a familiar face on the ladder, spitting out spells and minions on Spitelash Siren turns, and it's no Secret that School Teacher is one of the best at fueling its fellow Naga. While certain Hearthstone players swear by the Ignite version of the list, Wildfire builds continue to be the most popular on ladder.

Mage has the unique claim of being the only class whose most popular Nagaling spell costs less than 3, as the damage and Discover of Runed Orb bumps Arcane Intellect to second place. The popularity of Hero Power Mage shows up with Wildfire in third place, while the not-so-Secret Counterspell sneaks into the top four.

Best Deck and Discovers for Shaman

Far Sight Card ImageFrostbite Card Image

Shaman's best deck so far this expansion is Bioluminescence Burn, and is the deck most likely to care that damage spells cast by a Nagaling are boosted by Spell Damage.

Shaman's favorite Nagaling spell is Far Sight, whose Cost reduction can total as much as 5 Mana saved after factoring in the Cost of the Nagaling. Then, things get fairly burn-y with Frostbite and Bioluminescence, with survival/removal tool Tidal Surge bringing up the rear.

Best Deck and Discovers for Warlock

Dragged Below Card ImageDrain Soul Card Image

School Teacher made a few appearances in Control Warlock decks, but the recent buff to Dragged Below won him a full-time position in Curse Warlock. The synergy of Brann Bronzebeard, the Teacher, and Nagalings allows the deck to fill the opponent's hand with Curses to finish them off.

As mentioned, Dragged Below is Warlock's new favorite spell, but even that doesn't do it justice: according to HSReplay, Dragged Below is the only Nagaling spell that's picked more than 90% of the time (when it's offered). When it can't get the buffed spell, Warlock falls back to Curse of Agony, Drain Soul, and Full-Blown Evil.
