Although the Y'Shaarj Mercenaries event is going to start only on June 7th, we datamined the contents of all the 10 tasks you'll have to complete in order to earn the generous rewards locked behind them. This is the fourth limited-time Mercenaries event, and comes right after the N'Zoth one ended: it appears that the Old Gods are slowly taking control of the mode!
With no further ado, here are all the 10 Tasks of the Y'Shaarj Mercenaries event:
- Mountain Hikers
- Requirement: Complete Baron Geddon Bounty with at least 2 Pirates in Blackrock Mountain.
- Reward: 50 Y'Shaarj Coins, 25 Patches the Pirate Coins.
- Sustained No More
- Requirement: Land a killing blow on Azshara, Tidemistress and Loyal Myrmidon in one turn in Queen Azshara Bounty.
- Reward: Y'Shaarj Mercenary.
- Beach Day
- Requirement: Complete Acolyte of N'zoth Bounty with 6 Humans in Darkshore.
- Reward: 50 Y'Shaarj coins, 25 Reno Jackson Coins.
- Fight Fire with Fire
- No Shivers
- Requirement: Complete Heroic Captain Shivers Bounty with at least 3 Pirates in Darkshore.
- Reward: 75 Patches the Pirate coins, 50 Captain Hooktusk coins.
- Root of the Problem
- Requirement: Complete Ursula Windfury Bounty without Ursula attacking once in Winterspring.
- Reward: 50 Y'Shaarj coins, 50 random coins, 25 Reno Jackson coins.
- Rage Unbound
- Requirement: Kill at least 4 friendly characters using Y'Shaarj's Rage Unbound in a single turn.
- Reward: Random Y'Shaarj Golden Portrait
- You're a Kid Now
- Requirement: Complete Heroic N'Zoth Bounty with all your Mercs alive in Sunken City.
- Reward: 100 Y'Shaarj coins.
- Tag Team
- Requirement: Complete Heroic Taran Zhu Bounty with at least 5 Pirates in Darkshore.
- Reward: 75 Y'Shaarj coins, 50 Captain Hooktusk coins.
- Visions of Conquest
- Requirement: Deal at least 150 damage in a single turn using Y'Shaarj Defiled Attack.
- Reward: Diamond Y'Shaarj portrait.
As the Patch Notes specified, some of the event's tasks will require us to build our Parties with various amounts of Human and Pirate Mercenaries. For completion's sake, here's a list of said characters, which definitely got longer after the last update:
- Humans
- Protectors: Cariel Roame, Cornelius Roame, Lich King, Varian Wrynn.
- Fighters: Balinda Stonehearth, Leeroy Jenkins, Tirion Fordring, Wrathion.
- Casters: Anduin Wrynn, Antonidas, Jaina Proudmoore, Natalie Seline, Reno Jackson, Sky Admiral Rogers, Uther.
- Pirates
- Protectors: Mr. Smite, Sneed, Vanessa VanCleef.
- Fighters: Edwin, Defias Kingpin, Eudora.
- Casters: Captain Hooktusk, Patches the Pirate.
As usual, we're going to cover the entire event with a series of guides that will break down each task, explaining to you the most efficient way to progress through the event and earn all the rewards. Although you'll still have to wait some time for the aforementioned tasks, make sure to keep an eye open on our Y'shaarj Mercenaries Event portal, which will allow you to stay updated with anything regarding it.

I hope pirate synergies are strong, because I haven't been impressed with most pirates individually and a heroic bounty with 5 pirates sounds tough.
Give them a chance. I was historically unimpressed with Pirates too, but the Trigore patch gave a HUGE buff to the VanCleefs and to Sneed. Edwin was already the best thing about the build, but with Kingpin's Bounty on a one-turn cooldown now he can use Even Shares for great party sustain. Vanessa's reworked Burgle Barrage, especially with the Dreadblades equipment, allows her to function like a punchy, scaling Xyrella, protecting friendly attackers by stealing enemy attack. (If you're still building your Vanessa, ignore all abilities and equipment besides Burgle Barrage and Dreadblades.) She's especially nice for a build like pirates that attacks so much. Eudora is good and can pull some shenanigans; Smite is fine and goes bonkers against enemy AoE; Hooktusk tries too hard but, along with Patches, is an attacker in the Caster role, which slots right in. The build can do stuff, is what I'm saying.
I didn't realize that they had gotten a buff. Looking forward to the event now.
