Mutliple tribes card

We have things like Amalgamation that are all tribes in one, but do you think we will ever see dual- or mult-tribe cards. Like an Elemental-Dragon, or a Pirate-Murloc ? I think it would be cool thematically.

A puzzle box? What does it say? ... Yogi-Saffron something... sure, let's open it, what is the worst that could happen?

I think that'd be really cool, but it would be hard to format it given how little space there is for a tribe tag on Hearthstone cards. Amalgams get around it by having the tribe All, but how could you write Pirate-Murloc small enough that it'd fit into the tiny box for a minion's tribe?

This is fairly common in custom cards, but there are a few problems that affect this idea. Namely, there's what CursedParrot said about how there's very little space on the tribal tag on any card. Just "Elemental" by itself already takes up pretty much the entire space it has. This same thing also affects some preceding cards though, namely the fact that Patches would be a "Demon/Pirate", the phoenixes could be classified as "Beast/Elemental" (if the tribes were to go in alphabetical order) potentially (as could Arcanosaur). If Captain Cookie were to ever make it into the game, he'd most likely be tagged as a "Murloc/Pirate". I do believe that Team 5 has probably experimented with this idea multiple times, but for right now, the Amalgams are a very easy way of accomplishing the same base purpose.

I do believe that adding or taking away tribes will become a thing at some point, as once again, I think Team 5 has most likely tried it in some capacity at this point. I'm not sure what the biggest problem with it is though other than just possibly "awkward implementation" and the requirement of tribal synergy to be prominent in order to work.

I don't think we would really need anything like this, I mean how could something be both a demon, and a murloc, except for the fact that we have pirates. Pirate is not a species, it is a career (kinda). Though even if we don't need it I still really want something like this in the game, it would make deck building do much more interesting and it would really help tribal decks to get better, it could also make multi-tribe decks possible, which would be insane.

Do we need this? Not really, except for maybe a few cases with pirates.

Do I want this? Yes. very much.

Will we get this? Probably not, at least not until there is a nice way to fit that into the tribe box. Maybe at some point the devs will do some work to change how the cards are laid out to make some more room for the tribal tag. But that probably won't be for a while.

There are a few more cases where technically a card could fall into multiple of the current tribes. Chromaggus should be a dragon and a beast I believe, since he’s a core hound with dragon dna. Skyfin could probably be similar. If they ever implemented an undead tribe there’d be a good amount of crossover between the other tribes already, a plant tribe could have a bit of crossover as well. As with demons, something could become part demon I believe, like Illidan. Largely the reason why there isn’t much crossover is because they’re specifically trying to avoid it I think.

One way they could do it for the tag would be to have each one have a 2-3 letter way of shortening it, like Bst, Dmn, Mrl, etc. That’d definitely give enough room for two (maybe even three) tags to fit on a card

Who needs consistency when you could have fun?

I think the best way to go about it is to create a card (or a few of them) in an expansion where it makes sense thematically and do something like this:

It would keep the design clean (ish) and wouldnt take up much of the card's text space, leaving room for some options.

I think it's a conscious choice by the devs not to have multi-tribe units, or more tribes for that matter. Hearthstone's design philosophy has always emphasised simplicity, and dual classes go against that in more ways than just making it hard to fit the text into the box. I think Amalgam and Hench-Clan Hag are clear exception-to-the-rule type cards that get past the rules by having all tribal tags, which is in a sense still less "complicated" than having two.
