Try this deck, leave some feedback!

I was chatting with MalcolmReynolds about King Phaoris, and thought I might throw some attention on this deck I've been running in wild, around Rank 12. It's very fun, and can win many match-ups. Your early game options are super strong (Blackwing Technician, Garden Gnome, etc.) and they should guide your mulligan. If you have a Netherspite Historian or Firetree Witchdoctor, for example, keep a dragon, even if it's big. Garden Gnome? Maybe hold onto that Overflow.

I cut Nourish as I had hand size issues, and Grand Archivist because he kept punching me in the nuts, the bastard.

Make it to turn 7 without losing the board, and you should be able to go the distance.

Have fun! Let me know how it goes!

Moonglade Portal is worth adding for both the spell itself and King Phaoris

Great suggestion! Fits with the theme too. Not sure what to cut though. I guess maybe we don't need both Arcane Tyrants?

No need for Arcane Tyrants because they are only here for discount. So, feel free to replace them with Moonglade Portals.

I would like to try this deck, but I am missing too many cards. I will try and review the deck anyway.

The list seems to run a lot of random and niche cards, it seems to kinda be all over the place, so I would suggest these changes to make the deck more focused.

    - Faerie Dragon The card is only here for dragon synergy, and there are better cards that can do that

    - Nightmare Amalgam same as faerie dragon, there are better cards that can do the same thing

    - Cobalt Scalebane I don't really like this guy, I would rather run something more value-oriented

    - Arcane Dynamo this guy is just too slow and you have firetree to generate spells

    - Skulking Geist This card is pretty awkward to play and most of the time it is not worth it

    - Gift of the Wild there are better big spells to use

    - Grand Archivist you already mentioned you had replaced him, but you never said for what

-2 Arcane Tyrant as mentioned by Esparanta

    and I would add in

+ Netherspite Historian has fair stats and great value

+2 Scaleworm these guys give you removal without you having to run spells

+2 Blackwing Corruptor same as the scaleworm, they provide removal and are minions

+2 Moonglade Portal as mentioned by Esparanta

+ Primordial Drake I had removed some dragons, and I like this guy as a solid taunt and a minor AOE

+ Ultimate Infestation even if you don't play it, it is 10 mana

I have not played with the deck, this is just my opinion after looking at the list.

    Hey, thanks for the suggestions!

Faerie Dragon and Nightmare Amalgam are both good tempo plays, although I guess there are better 2-drops than Faerie, since you'll probably play it before it gives you synergy with another card.

I'd be fine losing the Cobalt Scalebane, as his effect is not always that valuable in a deck like this.

I like Arcane Dynamo for the spell, and he does fine if you're ahead enough on board, which you often are by turn 6 if you've drawn well. I could see him staying or going.

I'll keep Skulking Geist simply because he counters a few different things in wild (like Jade Idols).

When I cut the Grand Archivist, I think added the second Blackwing Technician.

Love the idea of Scaleworm and Blackwing Corruptor.

Between Overflow and Ultimate Infestation, you draw a lot. I would not run a second UI.

I think I'll do some tinkering later tonight and then update it.

I'm a bit at a loss what the dragons are even doing in this deck: if the goal is to shore up the early game with EG Blackwing Technician & Twilight guardian, why is every last dragon a 1-of? Wouldn't you want to hit at least those cards consistently every match?

On an even more base level the dragons confuse me because one of the main reasons to go for dragon synergies is so you can cut spells in favour of minions that kinda behave like spells (CF dragon conjurer mage with Book of Specters early in the RoS meta. King Phaoris wants you to have a mitt full of spells, so why not just play the spells?

well one reason to have the dragon stuff is so that, like you said, you could have minions that act like spells. The point of this is to make king phaoris and spiteful summoner more consistent.

If the argument is that you want to cut all the cheap spells for utility minions so that Summoner always hits high-cost spells and you still have game against aggro, I'd get rid of Scalebane and Primordial drake in favour of more cheap stuff like Amalgam and Twilight guardian, maybe an MCT. Once you have 5+ mana you have big spells and big spell minions to cast, you don't really want to be mucking about with dragons.

The awkward thing about big druid spells + dragons is that most of the worthwhile stuff is 6+ mana, making it really awkward to efficiently spend your mana on later turns.

    Dude, dragons.

But seriously, you make good points. At the beginning, I was considering elemental synergy instead of dragons. I just like dragons, and those early game bodies can be so good.

As for Phaoris, since I only run spells that cost 6 or more, usually holding just 3 or 4 is enough value from him.

Added 2 Scaleworms, second Netherspite, one Corruptor, second Primordial. Took out Faerie, both Tyrants, Cobalt, and Arcane Dynamo. Kept Geist, and JUST NOW beat a Jade Druid. Instant concede as soon that guy hit the board.

Spending mana on later turns has become a problem. That's why I cut the Arcane Dynamo, and haven't added Medivh yet. Yet. The dragon package is pulling its weight though.
