What is Titan in Hearthstone?

Hearthstone has many card effects that are common enough that they get their own keyword - a word or two that immediately tells you how the card works. Let's take a look at the Titan keyword.

Click on a Titan to use 1 of 3 abilities instead of attacking.

Titan is a mechanic introduced in Titans (big shocker, I know). Titan is exclusive to Legendary minions in that set, and they represent large minions that can't attack normally, but instead can choose to active one of three abilities during your turn (and this can happen on the turn you summon one as if it had a pseudo-form of "Rush"). Once your use all three abilities on your Titan, then it will be able to attack normally.

Keywords That Work Great With Titan

Titan is a very grindy keyword, and thus, it's at home in control decks that want to stall out the game as long as possible. As such, you will want to protect yourself and keep your hero healthy to last long enough to play them.

Playing Against Titans In Hearthstone

As noted before, Titans are huge minions. Therefore, your best bet for disposing of decks that use titans are to either Aggro them out so they don't live long enough to get to play them, or to prepare yourself for when one does show up. Titans have several abilities, but being able to use all of them relies on the Titans in question living long enough to do that. If you're able to remove the Titan as quickly as you can, you can prevent this.

Example Titan Cards In Hearthstone

Norgannon Card ImageEonar, the Life-Binder Card Image

Norgannon is the Mage Titan which has the powers of Progenitor's Power, Ancient Knowledge, and Unlimited Potential. When you use one of Norgannon's powers, it doubles the strength of the other powers. This can result in you dealing up to 20 damage, making all your opponent's cards cost (4) more on their next turn, or casting 4 random Mage Secrets.

Eonar, the Life-Binder is the Druid Titan which has the powers of Spontaneous Growth, Bountiful Harvest, and Flourish. When you use one of Eonar's abilities, you summon a 5/5 Ancient with Taunt. Never hurts to have extra board presence protecting you (and the Titan) since you are paying 10 mana to do this.
