Meh, not so sure about it. Decent i would say because you will also get a Minion on the Board after you played it.

But i also wait for funny videos about this card, because im sure someone will try to coin out a spell with this weapon equipped :)

Pretty powerful just based on the fact that it's so far the only Spellburst card that's not a minion and therefore is more likely to stick around for a turn.

The flipside is if you want to use it efficiently you have to use it the next turn in most cases (unless you can justify just playing a weapon that you're not going to use)

    I tried having fun once.

    It was awful.

Seems pretty decent, though the weapon itself is a bit slow so I’m not expecting it to see that much play.

Who knows though, maybe they’ll reveal some amazing 4 mana spell to curve into with this

Who needs consistency when you could have fun?

Weapons work best with spellburst I'd say, since they can only be removed by a few cards. Could be included in Big Paladin, (if that's a thing), to have early-ish boardpresence.

Can this replace Truesilver Champion, Underlight Angling Rod, Wrenchcalibur, Ancharrr, or Livewire Lance?

Depending on your answer, this card is either a niche no one's thinking about, or completely trash.

Yes, the taunt student can be an epic 10/10 or even a respectable 5/5 but then you'd have to go with a 2/2 weapon that probably doesn't do anything on curve, and then you'd have to play a big spell to justify it. Oh, and you have to do this before it gets oozed, which is practically in every deck.

Not that impressive to me honestly

I kind of like it the fact that the Spellburst can be saved a few turns with this. Weapon removal is less frequent than minion removal. You have to play Spellburst minions together with a spell or otherwise you won't get any value out of it. This could be played on curve.

Not sure if that makes this any good, because the effect is not too strong.

Kinda surprised this is an Epic card. Could have easilly been Rare. It is a cute card, but not sure if constructed worthy.

Spellburst on a weapon is pretty interesting since you can very reliably play this on turn 3 and then wait until next turn before casting the spell. Though I still don't think this card is very good. Spirit of the Tiger was never a good card, and that triggered each time you cast a spell. But who knows, maybe this will be better since a 2/2 weapon is a million times more useful than a 0/3.

At least you can attack with it and have 2, not like  The Fist of Ra-den.

How interesting - they printed a weapon that gets more value if you don't attack with it.

initially players will be tempted to use this with just medium to big cost cards (around 4-10), but there's not many spells you can play like that on curve for either class - Paladin's 4 drop spells consists of either a pitiful AOE, a single target removal/card draw, a single target buff spell or an AOE that would just make this minion have 1 health. Warrior on the other hand 4 drops are all single target removal that either need specific deck building (molten breath), a weaker fireball or...Dr Boom's scheme.

please note I'm reviewing this card before all cards have been revealed, we'll most certainly have more spells by the time of the full release. At this time Paladin has more higher cost spells than Warrior in standard but Libram of hope is the only one that's seeing competitive play and you wouldn't play this weapon in a libram deck because of Libram of Justice

In my opinion this weapon is for control decks to help get extra value from the spells you'll already be playing.

Warrior using Shield Block for some armor and card draw? get an extra speed bump against your opponent.

Paladin using Duel! to hopefully pull out Colossus of the Moon? at least get a 5/5 with taunt when you accidentally pull out a murmy instead.

Because no one will use these taunts to win the game, just to prolong the game SO they can win.

Interesting. The cost isn't bad for the extra effect. It's like a one-time weapon use of Spirit of the Tiger.

Loving the new design on Weapons, about time! This Weapon isn't that good though. Both classes have access to much better early game weapons, and a single (possibly) large Taunt isn't going to change the outcome of games.

Started playing HS in May, 2015. The bad news: I missed the excitement of 'Naxx out?' and GvG. The good news: I never met an Undertaker.

Does Blizzard have a thing for 3 mana weapons for warriors?

I foresee many misplays with this type of design :D also, if your opponent plays Cult Neophyte (for whatever reason) they actually buff your spells when this weapon is in play.

Pretty interesting effect, but has the problem of needing a spell that costs 3 or more to really shine, which precludes this from a lot of more aggressive decks.

If Warrior or Paladin get a powerful aggro 3 mana spell, then this card will be great. Otherwise, this does not really find a place in any slower decks.

This post is discussing the wild format.

Disappointing, honestly. We get a dual class weapon, it even has Spellburst, but it's no good. Doesn't even work well with Steeldancer.

seems bad, warrior isn't equipting this junk when it has great 3-4 drop weapons.  It doesn't really have much big spells to use it, as of yet.

Pally I can see some potential.

Pretty creative use of Spellburst and a cool way to show off the new weapon frames. That said, it's pretty slow. You don't want to play this on turn 3 and then wait and not do anything to get a large Taunt minion.

Warrior is not really one to use large spells, although Paladin might.

I think this card is great for Control archetypes in Warrior and Paladin.  You'll be able to pretty consistently get 4-5 stat Taunts after using a removal spell like Brawl, Consecration, or Plague of Wrath, but I don't see a place for this outside of Control decks.

Spellburst that can stick around for a few turns, unless your opponent runs weapon removal. Seems very good for control decks.

In paladin this seems like a solid card. Works really well together with Libram of Hope, as long as it didn't get its cost reduced too much. And there are plenty of spells that benefit from it, like Lay on Hands.

For warrior this is helpfull as it gives you a minion after using board clears like Brawl or Plague of Wrath.

Just a solid card overall. Will see play in control warrior/libram paladin.

RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.

I think both classes have enough other weapons, that are kinda better in every way, except the spell burst thingie. So, you kinda need to utilize this effect to even consider putting this weapon in your constructed deck. And I think it's hard to see this work except in maybe some sort of pure pala deck, where you cast your big libram/ +4/+4 + divine shiel buff spell. But it's questionable at the very least.

Ok, does Spellburst activate "when" you cast the spell, or "after" you cast the spell? Cast Brawl, summon a 5/5, then it gets brawled away. That would be not so good.

Good comparison - decent cost - but I guess I had higher expectation for their shared weaponry

Not bad actually, while not that great either. You want a decent spell already in your hand when playing this, but since it’s a weapon (unlike Spirit of the Tiger) you could hold on with the last hit for a turn or two. Could see some experimental play.

Strong card indeed. The spellburst give a lot of extravalue to the next spell...and can be used on turn 4 or in late game. Controll and tempo deck will happy to use this card :)

This can be played in pure paladin to curve into Consecration or Blessing of Kings, or in a big warrior type deck to give early minions without having to play them in your deck. Versatile enough to definitely see play.

This seems really good in Control Paladin, where you can follow it up with Consecration on your next turn for a big tempo swing. I'm not as sure about it in Warrior - there's just a lot of competition for weapon slots.

Play a 4-cost damage spell for control and a 4/4 Taunt. Great delay for Recruit Warrior.

Maybe this can be put in duel paladin to get a big statted minion when you play it with a big spells. Just maybe.

This weapon is really good on big decks they are pushing, but also I think it's good anough anyway as long as you play a 4 mana spell with it you get above average value this expansion introduced better stated 4 drops, so it's better on curve.

best case scenario you play this and then [Hearthstone Card (dimension ripper) Not Found] next turn.

Good that you have more control on how long it sticks around than a minion, which your opponent can readily deal with more.

Nice weapon with an amazing effect, free taunt as big as your spell but the important part is that it doesn't remove your weapons durability

Maybe control Warrior likes this, but the stats are basically useless for control Warrior.

I don't think this will actually see much play just because the effect is not good enough for 2/2 weapon stats.

Maybe can see play in Big decks.

Commencement can be a good combo, a 7/7 taunt + a Big boy with taunt and ds.

Big decks loves cards that generate minions and that generates a taunt to defend against aggro decks.

Paladin looks way more capable at spellbursting this at a decent size. But this whole plan seems a little on the slow side all in all.

At first I thought this would be a bad card, but I'm not so sure.  I think it may depend on when the Spellburst effect occurs.  If it happens after things like Brawl it could be a really nice effect to have a 5/5 taunt on board regardless of whether or not you won the brawl.

Quick!  Someone give me something clever to write here.

I think spellburst is worth running when the effect is consistently powerful so you can trigger it as soon as possible with a cheap spell. Ceremonial Maul is the opposite of this ideal: the effect isn't consistent (as in the effect doesn't have a set outcome) and it demands that you play an expensive spell. Not only is triggering the spellburst slow, but the weapon stats is slow for the cost. I don't see why you'd run this in either class.

Not amazing, but the Taunt minion can save your life against aggro decks. Will need to wait and see if there're better options.

This has potential, but by the time you're getting out a really big Taunt do you even care about that? Does your opponent? I'm not convinced.
