Mage is not the Priest...so a Dragon Soul for mage can be very scarry. However I'm asking myslef if Cyclone Mage need this card as additional victory condition...
Without tutoring, I think this card is really bad. It synergizes well with mana cyclone for sure, but without the pew pew guys for support, I don't see how you can run cheap "bad cards" and control the board at the same time. Even if you manage to pull it off, you're going to be very sad when the opponent clears your board.
Not really impressive for its mana cost but may find itself in cyclone mage at thats about it. 3 spells is quite a lot, and most decks can't generate that many spells.
Kinda remind of Dragon Soul and that never saw play.
People comparing this to dragon soul are missing a major difference. Yes dragon soul was less likely to be removed than a 2/5 is, but:
1. Mage has more cheap spells than priest did at the time dragon soul was around
2. A 2/5 for 3 is playable even if you never get the upside of it's text, dragon soul on the other hand was often spend 3 do nothing for a turn.
3. Mana cyclone still exists to cycle those cheap spells into more valuable spells after you've used them to make those 5/5's, priest didn't have many other ways to squeeze value out of those cheap spells beyond dragon soul and discounting their 7/8 taunts.
I think this card is going to single-handedly keep cyclone mage relevant after the event ends and flamewaker returns to wild.
One of the problems of Dragon Soul is that you have to build your deck around it, but have no guarantee you'll draw it in time. Mage has more other cards that generate or synergize with cheap spells, so the problem is less severe than for Priest. But I'm not sure that this one card gives Cycle Mage the critical mass to become viable again in Standard.
I love playing with cheap spells and I loved dragon soul, this guy is a MUST CRAFT for me.
with cards like Ray of Frost, Cheap Trick, and Mirror image seeing regular play in standard with Sorcerer's Apprentice I can see this guy getting a few 5/5 out there
this does not look too strong to me tbh. the statline is alright but the effect sounds better than it will be in actual gameplay. there are not too many cheap spells to make this worthwile. maybe it could be used in cyclone mage with cheap spells in combination with antonidas but tempo mage is not even good with flamewaker which is an insane card compared to this. occasionally the 5/5 might happen and win a game, yes
Dragon Soul never saw much play, so hard to say that this will. And a 2/5 can be removed much more easily than a weapon. Could do some big stuff though.

Small spell Mage has shown to be powerful in the past, and while this is certainly a powerful card in it, I don't think it does enough to really push the deck past the upcoming competition. A Dragon Soul that can be killed won't cut it. Of course this is subject to change based on the rest of the cards to be revealed, but this alone isn't good enough.

Basically a worse Dragon Soul. We'll see if its gonna be used
Those who downvoted, do you not understand the basic concept of a weapon being harder to remove compared to a 2/5 body?

Instant 400 dust!
This would see play in but one deck, Cyclone Mage. Anything other than that is wishful thinking.

This is worse than people believe
thanks for improving wild blizzard, again... Good job lol
oh yeah spell mage sorceres aprentice turn 2 this turn 3 with low cost spells gonna be fun as hell to play, and a hell to play against.

Obvious potential buff in a Cyclone deck or other Elemental Mage (in Wild probably). Could definitely see play. Kinda meh for Arena.
Incredibly strong!
This could be an Early-mid game killer...
Dragon Soul but you get a 2/5 also, and it's for mage. Not sure if that's much better, honestly.
So its similar to the Priest card Dragon Soul, could be more useful in mage however due to cards like Ray of Frost and Elemental Evocation.
This could potentially be a very powerful card, Mage has so much access to cheap and efficient spells.
Makes me sad that Elemental Evocation will be rotating out in the spring.
