Consider expansion releases for traditional Hearthstone. They usually offer a small bundle with packs from the previous set (or year) a few weeks after launch.
There's no reason to assume a post-release Mercs deal would not be comparable to that -- probably something like 20 packs for 20 bucks with maybe a bonus epic portrait.
I still need to know how it affects coin drops from bounties, PvP and packs if I have a 100% fully upgraded merc.
Do coins for that merc no longer drop? If they continue to drop, is there a way to trade them in for some other resource? Do they just sit rotting in my inventory for all eternity?
I feel it's impossible to make an informed decision on the pre-order until I get these answers.
He is hard-countered by abilities like Xyrella's Blinding Luminance, but hopefully not many of those exist in PvE.
I'll agree that I wouldn't want to see them in every battle, but I do hope that there's enough variety among PvE enemies to make the player hesitant to go all-in on one build or one specific merc.
No one "buys" Battlegrounds. You can get the pass, but you don't have to. When you play a free game where the monetization is primarily through cosmetic items, yes, you should expect a lot of cosmetic items to be released and promoted.
If you aren't cool with that, stop playing, following and caring about free games.
Also, cosmetic items are created by the art department. No matter how many skins they add, it takes absolutely nothing away from development of any game mode across all of Hearthstone. If you want to complain about the state of Hearthstone (and rightfully so), your beef is with the design team and live team of Hearthstone.
With fully upgraded Double Strike, you'll have 15 Attack after Turn 1. Then, fully upgraded Mirror Image with Sash of Illusion deals 30 damage at Speed 3, and it only gets better if you are able to Double Strike again without dying. Add buffs from other Mercs, and it gets really scary.
Agreed. There's far too many people who treat ladder like it's an Innvitational league. I'm not saying people can't play seriously, I'm just saying that for what games are supposed to elicit (fun), it seems like an awfully lot of people are chasing the carrot on the stick (ranking up), instead of enjoying the ride (the game)

A lot of people will play the same braindead uninteractive deck if given the chance, forever, because it gets results, not because its fun to win with it. They value their ego and their rank more than they value being a good sport.

"Fun" is a spectrum; some things are more fun than others, but nothing can be classified as purely "fun" or "not fun." If losing is less fun than winning, then people play to win because it is more fun to them than playing for some other reason. "Being a good sport" has absolutely nothing to do with anything in your original statement.

The point of the article is to compare the bundle price to the regular prices -- nothing more.
I think in this piece OOC wisely avoids making value judgments about the correctness of pre-ordering.

Blink Fox is also capable of buffing speed, but Cairne might be the most consistent.
Also note that Diablo + Cairne + Blink Fox covers all roles.
After seeing the fairy tale set, I didn't expect to care about these at all. But now I want them both.
The more a game is funded by optional cosmetics, the more generous it can be with the components that actually matter, i.e, cards.
I'm not saying they WILL be more generous, but it gives them the ability to do so.

I would think Freeze keeps them from acting at all, but Root just keeps them from Attacking. BIG difference.
If that's not the difference, there must be something. It would be really out of character for Blizz to add a whole keyword just for flavor.
There are tons of abilities with Spell Combo, mostly on casters. They are actually named Fel Combo, Fire Combo, Frost Combo, etc.
