83 packs - 5 legendarys and 19 epics. Including a golden hunter quest.
I only bought the big bundle, I might purchase the other one before the deadline as the final card reveal had some interesting cards.
Plus around 2k gold so with another 70 packs to open I should have more than enough cards to play several decks with. Still got the golden cards to come and the free quest.
You cannot buy individual SoU packs until the expansion launches, this fireside gathering event is only for opening the packs that come with the pre-order.
I think there are some very fun and interesting cards being released for mage this expansion.
I don't think any of them are better than something big > CC.
As such the new mage cards will see play for a bit as they're new but then once the novelty wears off every mage will be back to cyclone / freeze mage.
Same with warrior, new cards look fun but everyone knows Dr Boom is OP and they will be back to control warrior as no deck can out value a warrior with infinite rush mechs plus the barrage of removal at warriors disposal.
I was kind of expecting a nerf to CC (maybe indirect) and to HoF Brawl.
Gotta love the fact that you've paid your money, pre-ordered the expansion but as you don't stream other people get to experience what you've paid for before you...
Blizzard need to give these guys the resources every expansion for card reveals. They are better than their own efforts (except the song, the expansion theme tune is amazing!).
Cannot believe that Thijs didn't get a card to reveal.
That guy day in, day out, champions Hearthstone through his streams and he didn't even get a reveal?!? When other streamers have gone to play other games he still plays HS and seems to genuinely enjoy it. Bonkers decisions by Blizzard! I hope Thijs turns down any reveals in the future!
He may not be everyone's cup of tea (tea, geddit?) but you can't say he doesn't do a lot for the game and he is immensely popular.
Why's that? Play this on curve, discard a giant. It dies the next turn and you get 2 giants bringing you closer to playing one them. I get that if you leave it too long the giant will only cost a few mana but early enough it could be good.
I know Blizzard wanted something new but as its seemingly impossible to balance all the classes, watching control warrior mirrors and endless rogues and mages do the same thing over and over again got old very quickly.
Variety is the spice of life and all that. Specialist doesn't allow for that.
I completed the brawl with all characters just to say I have but I won't play it again now. Not fussed over card reveals, it's not like I'm not going to find out what they are between now and launch.
I kind of wish Blizzard would just say nothing and just launch an expansion so you had to open packs to learn about cards. By the time the expansion comes there is no surprise to the expansion.
Edit: having literally just typed that and logging in there is a quest to do 3 more tavern brawls... here I go again!
They're going to have to do something to slow the meta down or these quests are dead in the water already. This mage quest is expecting you to get value after already casting 10 spells. You'd have to go ham every game with cyclone to even think of making it worthwhile.
Hunter (all variants) needs addressing. It's been top of the win rate in standard for too long now. Warlock and Priest don't stand a chance, really below average win rates. I wouldn't be against over nerfing hunter just to sideline it for a bit.
1 x buffed Timber Wolf = 4 dmg
1 x discounted Tundra Rhino = 3 damage with buff from Timber Wolf
5 x Locust (assuming you started with an empty board) with Hero Power + buff from Timber Wolf = 5 x 4 = 20
So 27 damage for 9 mana?
What am I missing to get 31 damage?
*answered, I worked it out wrong

You cannot craft SoU cards until the expansion launches (or D/E anything you open at a fireside gathering).

This kills the hype, it does nothing to raise it.

My favourite card so far is Frightened Flunky as I love cards that generate other cards especially if they use the Discover mechanic.
Gz on the card reveal Dekkster!!
Urgh. Why is hunter getting good cards?
I can't do a hunter meta for another expansion...
All we need now is a warrior quest that's easy to complete and makes bomb/control warrior even better.

All of these seem pretty meh...
It's like Team 5 are so scared of a year of the mammoth scenario again that they are being overly cautious and as such it's resulting in boring cards.
I still haven't even pre-ordered this expansion yet and I'm someone that buys them all every time. I don't see anything exciting yet.
It feels like a worse League of Explorers so far.
The best part of this expansion so far is the trailer music!
Well that's underwhelming to say the least.
I mean the card isn't that bad but the requirements are too heavy.
It's also not what I was expecting from Reno.
There are only 7 legendary quests in the chain so if you have received the second lot of 200g you've done them all and that's it.
Specialist was boring.

Excellent card, the opportunities are many. Lots of scope to disrupt the enemy and shaman can always make use of murlocs.

Overkill doesn't work like that, Linecracker would have to be the attacker (not be attacked) for it to trigger.
