I've been playing since LoE and finally hit standard legend earlier this year after being a dad legend player for a good while before. It's nice to be able to mess around with less competitive decks in dumpster legend without that niggling voice telling to focus on climbing, and to know you've maxed out your rewards for the season. I'm also having a go at the wild ladder now - hit r5 this morning - and just enjoying the game before next week's ladder reset.
Thanks for the responses guys, some really useful info here. Checked out zeddy and rofl, who has a few DMH vids too. Currently torn between throwing in the dust to craft this deck and saving it for scholomancer!
Can any DMH veterans vouch for the competitiveness of this warrior deck? I'm dying to play the archetype but don't want to plough loads of dust into it and then discover I don't like it. This seems like a decent budget option - I'd only need to craft 2x DMH plus n'zoth - but I'd appreciate an expert opinion :)
This occurred to me too. Plus, running Armagedillo in a big warrior deck could make for some pretty powerful results, either in the mid game to buff In Formation! minions to stall aggro decks, or in the late game for double end of turn value with Dimensional Ripper
Worth running in highlander so that you can play it on turn 9, then on turn 10 play Dragonqueen Alexstrasza plus both the minions she generates? Think it's probably a bit too high rolly, but you never know.
This thread kind of reminds me of the reaction to all the highlander cards being introduced last year when the bomb mechanic was already in the game, and here we are with these archetypes continuing to see play and win games. Imo, the second expansion of the year should introduce some new archetypes and strengthen existing ones. In order to avoid those archetypes being completely busted, counters also need to be introduced.
Also, the purpose of the reveal season is to get people talking about the expansion. What better way to do this than to put some controversial mechanics out there so that we can have debates about them?
I'm not saying that none of the cards introduced so far wont be overpowered and need to be nerfed eventually, but I think it's too early to say that an archetype, or even an entire class, is completely broken when we've seen less than half of the new cards.
Of course I could be wrong on all of this, but to me the message is certainly not clear.
That's the bottom line - everything is speculation atm. I hope I'm proven wrong tomorrow and there is an announcement. I feel past patterns would suggest otherwise, but blizzard seem to have embraced breaking with tradition recently - buffing cards, adding a new class, bringing cards back from wild. It's anybody's guess how / when the new reveal will be handled. Let's just hope it's sooner rather than later.
I reckon it'll be Thursday at the earliest. I don't think blizz would have two significant events in the game (major nerfs and expansion reveal) hitting on the same date, as they would dilute one another's coverage. Could be wrong, though.
It only makes sense that they would wait for the Felfire Festive to end and close out the Outland theme before moving on to announcing the new theme.
This.
Having said that, I'd argue that this year's summer festival has been a less effective distraction from a stale meta than previous years, as the solo adventure was a bit underwhelming, there has been no arena reset, and the 3 x legendary quests, while welcome, didn't do as much to create the sense of an ongoing festival vibe as previous years' double gold rewards, or last year's buffing of boomsday cards / addition of sn1p sn4p. Also, the nerfs to primarily demon hunter cards haven't really shaken the meta up very much, meaning that essentially the same decks have been tier 1 since the AoE release settled down.
As a general rule, I feel team 5 did a much better job of pacing meta shakeups in Year of the Dragon than they have so far in Phoenix. Last year the teaser for the August expansion caught me off guard, as the RoS expansion still felt fairly fresh at the time, and the boomsday buffs, wild cards returning to standard for a limited time, and Galakrond's Awakening all seemed like interesting and varied ways to shake things up a bit. Hopefully things will improve as the year goes on.

Same for me except that it's the battlegrounds one. Ick
So that means I can say I'm running the budget version then? :P
Thanks for the lists!
That highlander hunter looks suspiciously last expansion, mind you. No Lorekeeper Polkelt, Ace Hunter Kreen, Adorable Infestation, Demon Companion, etc. I'd say it's a good few thousand dust shy of being pimped up for the SA meta :)
Congrats mate! What legendary did you get?

Man, this looks greedy. Greedy but fun!
Fingers crossed for a viable control warrior in tha SA meta.
Deathrattle rogue incoming?
According to the IGN reveal article, Snipe and Explosive Trap will both become poisonous if Slate is on the board when they're triggered.

Essentially 6 mana for a hero power, kill a minion, summon a 3:3. Looks pretty solid to me.
Damn kid's rng was insane. If I was tyrande I'd be salty as hell after that brawl.
Worth considering Transfer Student as consistently inconsistent?
Yeah fixed here. Rerolled a 50 this morning and it gave me a 60.
