First of all, getting to rank 8 after a few weeks of play is great! You should really be proud of such an accomplishment. I think you've got a lot of the basics down for playing the game. As another person already said, Trump's basic teachings are really helpful for understanding how to play the game and he gives lots of good advice for just about everything. He goes through all the hero powers and the related cards for each class. He teaches by using real matches with other anonymous players in ranked, which is pretty helpful since the examples couldn't be more "real life."
The first link in the list, Hearthstone Top Decks, is my personal favorite because it has really well-written deck guides for each and every deck archetype and tournament players as well as other experts share their decks there, all categorized by deck archetype, of course! The write-ups are extremely detailed, including what cards can be substituted and with what, possible upgrades, advice about match-ups, etc.
Agreed. Per what we've seen with previous issues during a launch or patch release, I wouldn't be surprised if everyone got a couple free packs out of this.
I use decks from the internet. I don't always use the ones that are defined as "t1." I don't think it's bad to use netdecks. The game is made so you have to optimize your decks. I do tech my decks, though, or swap out things depending on my mood, but I am definitely not a "home brewer." I want to win games and I play to win.
Other than that, I don't have any other things to confess and I wouldn't be embarassed if my friends or family observed me playing the game. Also, I think that if people in general thought about what their mom would say if she knew what they were doing on the Internet, people wouldn't do so many terrible things on the Internet.
I don't think Hearthstone is a unique game for "bringing out the worst" in people. The worst exists in people and they allow it "to be brought out" or not.
I'm neither better or worse than anyone else. I do get irritated with this game sometimes, that's for sure. I just don't understand why people think it's interesting to abuse emotes, trash talk on chat, and do other types of things that I see as wasted energy.
I suppose if I were to confess anything it would be that I'm that player that squelches my opponent after emoting a greeting and then saying nothing more for the rest of the game. I don't even emote "well played" after taking the winning shot. Maybe that's my rudeness, not sure. It definitely stems from a desire to concentrate and not be distracted by the emote system.
Last month rogue rogue rogue. This month hunter hunter hunter. And a Murloc shaman or two. I'm getting irritated. Every time I queue up a game I'm like, "I bet it's a hunter" and there he is, Rexxar. It's like that movie about saying "Candyman" three times at the mirror.
Do you think if we look into a mirror and say "Huntard" three times we will get smacked with a steady shot? Or maybe run over by a hound while a hyena gains health and attack in the background?
I had no idea that people thought the Dr. Boom emotes were amusing until I had to play a match against a jerk who over used them. The person was obviously a dimwit. I conceded because the warrior was winning (I know, such a shocking ending for a match!) and he emoted, "Thanks, I'll destroy you last!" Ummm, like, you destroyed me first, so there is no last. Makes no sense, stupid emote system.
I think tomorrow when I go to the supermarket and I get my change from the cashier I'll say, "Thanks, I'll destroy you last!"
Boommaster Flark isn't necessary and in a lot of cases isn't the right card to play. Trump leaves him out, along with a bunch of other cards, and uses two tracking, two animal companion instead. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9L7nd1mE6E I have used Trump's deck and also other ones with Boommaster Flark, and I've found Trump's deck to be a little bit better. It really helps to have some bombs out there and score a Leokk
I like Vessina, because then when I'm at the tavern I'm reminded I can't bite anybody but then when I get some minions he says, "awww, you made a new friend!"
I got to rank 5 for the first time ever this month! I've been playing the game for years but never got serious about the ladder until very recently. I got to just one star shy of rank 4 and for me that's an achievement, considering I don't usually play the game that much. This month and last I just can't get enough of this game for some reason and I find I can spend an entire day playing if I have the day free to do so. I've also been having a lot of fun with the adventure. Although I'm sure most of us have had some things to complain about, this season was pretty cool with lots of decks to choose from for standard. The adventure still hasn't gotten old for me, even though I've completed at least one perfect run for each chapter.
I suppose if I play more I'll maybe get to legend some time. I'm going to see if I continue to turn to this game more often than doing other things in my free time.
I'm just irritated about how other people play these decks and draw all the cards they need just at the right time and how I use the same decks and do not draw the right cards. I can mulligan until the cows come home and even until after the cows come home and I will draw garbage. I can play a "choose this and that" card and my options are usually crap meanwhile other people play those same cards and get fabulous options that inevitably kill me. For example, Hesitbaron Togwaggle's trash spell was kind enough to offer me Lorewalker Cho, Nat Pagle, or Millhouse Manastorm. With such a menu of options, and no suicide option, I don't know....leaves me feeling salty, especially when it seems like every time I face a Rogue they always get something nice to double drop on the board, like a big fat Gruul or something.
