You can use this for easy Buffs I guess
There's already plenty of support for secrets in paladin, I guess this was only the most natural card to create.
Now secret paladin just needs 1 mana 1/2 draw a weapon
The wording on these secret cards always matters. I don't know why they refuse to put it as "play a secret" i don't think it would be that oppressive swinging with this and buffing a secret keeper by 1/1
With just 1 or 2 more secrets or secret support cards, secret paladin could become a thing and this card would be its core card other than canonmaster smythe.
Oh, this is an italian chef's kiss for Secret Paladin decks
There's definitely synergy with Cannonmaster Smythe, but why did he bring up Cariel Roame? Is there something I'm missing here?
Regardless, it looks like Blizzard wants Secret Paladin. With Avenge coming back, Oh My Yogg! and Noble Sacrifice staying in standard and potentially the new Reckoning, there are some nice targets to pull with this. However, there needs to be more payoff to playing secrets than just Cannonmaster Smythe. Hopefully we'll see something during the reveal stream and the card dump.
That said, it's a really powerful card, but it just needs something more to make it cohesive. Currently it looks as if it'll just be run as a small package in a Paladin deck, much like Hunter secrets nowadays (it's only just occurred to me that Phase Stalker is rotating).
Cariel Roame was mentioned because it reduces the cost of holy spells. I assume, just like Reckoning, all secrets will be holy spells.
I agree, though It's only the first expansion of the new year so decks will tend to be a bit less cohesive than they are at the end of the year. For the upcoming meta, I think with what you said this still makes Sword of the Fallen a meta-defining card.
The sword, worn by Mysterious Challenger during TGT, was long lost. Until now...
No guarantees it's Tier 1, but Secret Paladin will absolutely work cohesively as a deck with just one more decent secret revealed. I'm not sure the same could be said for Deathrattle Demon Hunter even if a couple decent deathrattle minions are revealed.
This could really push the secret package in other paladin decks, might even be on Mysterious Challenger level
