It's probably the most serious bug to date, things like that weren't happening before this patch. I worry that with them pushing the patch late on Thursday it might go unchecked over the weekend. Definitely the last thing we need when Duels need all the support it could get.

It is not a good look for the development team, no doubt about it. It seems they are seriously undermanned, with Iksar mentioning the same people are responsible for Duels, Brawls, Book of Heroes, etc. The game mode could use its own devoted group to get it up to scratch.

That's why it's supposed to give you all the dust back, as the card was fundamentally changed.

Ooh, that's very interesting and unique. And the kind I might go for myself if ever offered. Do you happen to have a screenshot?

Oh, any amount of cents is very much welcome. We all got different perspectives and experiences to offer.

I wouldn't mind some different approaches to rewards and the entry fee, seeing as the current model has been pretty much just copy-pasted from Arena.

Looking at the current Wild debate, it still sounds like they don't quite know what to make of the mode. The historical support has been poor, as you say. Duels seem to suffer from this as well - lack of clear long term game plan, not foreseeing these early issues, no considerations for artificial blocks they put up.

I'm still amazed just how bad they are at monetizing Battlegrounds. It could so easily work with cosmetics - skins, emotes, boards, hero power fluff. And it's something many games out there do well. But Blizzard barely does it, aside from the early way too overpriced attempts or as bundle bonuses.

I can believe they had this pretty business theory of how it's going to drive more pack sales, even if detached from reality. And maybe it even did in the first month or two. But every limited game mode needs F2P more than the F2P need the modes themselves, so to speak. This is very much visible in Duels with higher queue times and a good chance to face the same person twice in a row, especially at higher amount of wins. Also F2P = word of mouth, comments, larger community that keeps the game alive (and potential for someone engaged to eventually buy something, for the sake of support or otherwise). Something Blizzard doesn't seem to appreciate properly. So Duels definitely could use more engagement in that regard, and clearly their initial vision did not work out too well.

I think that's a little unclear, if they even could at this point. Because there reportedly was a multi-year contract put in place. Not sure how ESL fully features into that, besides taking over production and operations from people inside Blizz.

Very much this. Healthier economy is on the wishlist for many of us. At least they do seem to realize.

(Don't worry too much about random downvotes for no apparent reason, if there is no relevant argument attached. Sometimes it's just used too easily for disagreeing).

It's certainly disruptive on paper, but I wonder if it's going to properly take off. Oh My Yogg did not do that well, after all. And you can try to time that one to snipe some crucial spell, at least. Granted, Paladin does not have such Secret support in Standard.
But for competitive viability, Rogues tend to prefer more immediate effects - be it with Tricks, Plagiarize, Ambush or even Bamboozle. There will be many many games where something relatively meaningless goes banana way, and its impact won't be felt. Not all decks also run efficient draw engines.

I couldn't agree more. I wish there was a more official "face of Duels" - as in a developer on the team - to discuss some of these concerns with and have them properly considered. It's too bad they are (obliviously? one would think) barring the entry and discouraging people so much.

That's the assumption we're working with for now (it only makes sense to retire runs from Season 1 for balance reasons and a clean slate). Especially if it's being done for Arena with compensations. But there is no way to know for sure.

This weird distinction between 800 (soon 900) and 1000 XP quests is so annoying for me. As it has been with 50g/60g quests as well. I wish they could just get rid off this silly concept entirely. Have a baseline of 1000 XP and throw in a bunch of special higher XP quests in the mix, so it actually feels rewarding to reroll and hit one.

I'm glad we are seeing progress in other areas.
