This card popularity is direct with the attack power of the most used cards at the time. you want to kill it on a 5 or more attack minion and get the taunt versus the other minions. IF the average attack damage on board is below 5, you will be left defenseless and playing this, wasting 8 mana in a 1 minion removal.

Seems kinda meh when compared to Fool's Bane. Not because the card itself is weaker (it's not, it's much stronger especially with DH's Hero Power), but because DH doesn't have the tanking power Warrior has.

In the fouls bane time I tried many times a control build with that weapon, and I almost never was able to used it due to the meta beeing too agressive and I had not enought health to tank the hits. AS A WARRIOR. WIth DK, the meta will be more agreesive and a class with no armor and little heal wont be able to tank that many hits to be worth the slot

Don't believe this will be good this expansion, demons available are either too weak, or have effects that you want to procc your turn, like rush or 6 damage to all enemies.

However, this does allow for a future build in the next expansions should any good demon arrive. It's a sleeper card waiting for the right help, just like Grumble in shaman last year.

I'm glad this card is legendary...because 2 of it in a deck would be scary stuff.

Would it be that scary? You would still need 3 turns where you would have no leftover mana for other plays. True, you would get 20 damage done, mas also leave yourself vunerable during that comb

I honestly think this has a chance. I'm well aware it likely won't make an impact but this looks rather similar to Amani War Bear and that saw a relatively decent amount of play in the right decks.

Rush minions main purpose was board control/clear. Amani War Bear 5 damage was a garanteed kill of almost any minion. 2 attack is kinda weak.

But you are right, cards are similar and the taunt/beast tag could prove its usefulness in the future.

I agree that 5 damage is better but usually this can come down three turns sooner as well, meaning that smaller targets will often be on the board. T

True, playing this early will definitely win you the board vs token or aggro decks, even against some mid range.

But in what class would you run this instead of other cards that better push your game plan? I could see priest, maybe hunter due to beast. Warrior will love to find this from that 2 mana discover a taunt.

    Thoughts?

Saying this card is bad is saying we did not learn our lesson with carniverous cube.

The meta is different, the cards are different, but mana cheating effects will aways be dangerous, especially in a class specialized in ressurecting minions.

I wouldn't call this mana cheating exactly. You pay 4 mana to do nothing this turn and there aren't many deathrattle trigger cards in priest other than Wretched Reclaimer, which still requires 7 mana overall.

I see your point, and yes, it's truth that when played it does nothing, but in many scenarios, like minions ready to attack or taunt minions, it will effectively lead to mana cheating on board. A strong card to be sure, and like cube, one to not be taken lightly.

I think this card has potential to be a sleeper, just like Stubborn Gastropod.

Wasn't Stubborn Gastropod only played of rexxars zombeast hero power?

I really can't remember any poison minions being played outside of that hero power and the magnetise mech in hunter. Might be because of all the pings in the game and easy removal. Rogue and druid can deal with this easy, and paladin forces you to keep clearing 1/1's to save this guy.

When patches came out I gave it 5 starts. I was right, a strong board presence and a tutor effect turn 1 are insane.

This does not have a tutor effect. but there a 2 of them. and are 2/2.

If you can pull  off at least one of these in 1/4 games turn one, they are already raising your win rate enough to be considered meta defining.

Never underestimate an agressive 1 drop. The most meta-defining cards of all time have mostly been 1 drops, since those can decide the fate of a game before you have mana to hero power.

Lets say Ungoro Quest mage and freeze mage were still a thing.

Would you include this in your deck? I wouldn't. Not worth vs 1 class. Silence is a way better tech. You can use it on your minions or in the opponent's. Good vs many classes.

I welcome our new overlords, mech hunter and paladin.

May they rein supreme and ward of the swampy shamans from our technological cities.

I've said it about the priests legendaries and I will say it again: if you are playing cards that depend on your opponent, you are abilitating yourself to have an opponent that ruins your game play.
Also, vs decks with big hands 3 mana 3 health minions are easy to remove, regardless of the attack. If it had elusive or divine shield, that would be different.

A little far fetched, but considering that there are murloc related cards with dragon synergy meant to be played early game, whats stopping us from using them with this to make an agressive murloc dragon deck?

    Food for though.

Another insane dragon-based card. But I don't know if it's quite playable or not, especially having number of cards on turn 4, it's basically Twilight Drake with aggressive stat. 5 Health is fine.

We had that, Midnight Drake, and it never saw play. for 4-6 mana, the attack value doesnt matter much as long as it is above 3. The health part is what matters and 5 health for no taunt, stickiness or extra effect is just not enough.

Besides, you have to avoid play dragons in order to keep its value.

Flanking Strike Card Image EXCEPT RANDOM!

No but seriously, this isn't a bad card. Obviously due to the fact that the target is random this won't be very consistent. But dealing 3 damage is usually enough to kill something, or put something in killing range, by turn 4. Also, with the shaman quest this deals 3 damage to an extra minion, which makes this card much more reliable. Plus, this isn't a bad battlecry to add onto Shudderwock, the fact that this is random actually makes it better, if the effect were targetable, then Shudderwock might punch something on your board.

    Thank you!
With every one here saying that the random aspect made it bad are clearly forgetting Shudderwock and the shaman quest.
For 4 mana, a 3/3 body with removal is insane in the early game.

Was starting to get worried that in a dragon expansion we would not see another Faerie Dragon, since we only had Faerie Dragon and the new classic legendary representing the species.

    Glad they made one.

    That's definetly gonna see play!

Most Decks that use Azure Drake usually don't care much about the spelldamage.

Honestly druid might be the only one that preferred azure drake over this, due to swipe and wrath.

Ziliax wins in taunt and lifesteal.
This wins in stats, elusive and 2x copies.

As control removal options, both are great and I believe this card will see play especially in dragon paladin.
