Quest druid has some big holes in the gameplan and are extremely vulnerable to certain meta decks.
It's powerful, sure. That's a good thing. Token isn't bad either. Heal sort of sucks.
Although quest druid was briefly on top it quickly dropped as the meta and tech cards adjusted to it. There seems to be a very healthy constant meta shift week to week that suggests a more rock/paper/scissors sort of weekly shift as opposed to a dominating deck for the entire expansion. This indicates to me that the design since Brode left has actually been very well handled. No more 3-4 months of 1 deck dominating.
On to your point this actually means there are cracks for off-meta decks to do very well depending on your ability to judge what's popular right now. Quest druid has a huge early game tempo problem that can be exploited that's inherent with the quest design. There are very few cards that could be added that would make this go away. Sure, choose one cards are now forever boosted by this quest in terms of viability but I wouldn't worry so much about it being stifling to future design. If all you can see is quest druid when you are deck building then try exploring the druid decks on this site or sites like it. There are actually a lot of fairly viable decks not many people play. They aren't as optimized but in the right metas some are extremely powerful.
Also, the 'undiscovered deck' idea could hit at very random times. I remember out of no where when Kael/Tempo rogue just shot to tier 1 weeks after the expansion was out. Even this expansion has the dark horse of aggro warrior that's slowly becoming more popular and higher win rate. They aren't as flashy or as obvious to build as something like Quest druid and that's why it takes more time for the community to really optimize and learn about them.
You are only looking through the lens of power level. You need to remember all players will receive these cards for free so it's not like you have to waste dust to play them. I'll be playing some renounce fun decks, doesn't always have to be about climbing that ladder.
Rogue is full of deathrattle interaction cards. They have 2 deathrattle related legendaries. Yet at the end of they day even with N'zoth Rogue Deathrattle will still fail to do well. That makes me sad.
Was hoping that the card additions might shake up some of the struggling classes. Mage got some help but rogue just got some meme cards.
Ok, having played a few times now I can see how the saved health mechanic will allow more people to finish the adventure (especially on heroic) there just seems to be some very dull rounds when I have to chip off 0-100 health. Generally there’s no difficulty on the last boss.
It was interesting to try but having to do an entire run to knock off 30 health is very unrewarding.
Long story short: played against a lot of Quest Shamans and could beat most of them with a variety of pretty average decks, except of course when they just happen to have Mogu Fleshshaper + Mutate on turn 3-4 and just completely highroll you with no counter whatsoever.
I'M not saying Quest Shaman needs to be nerfed in any capacity at this point, but if there's one thing that would drastically axe its winrate it's probably that very combo.
It's just an autowin against any deck that relies on beating them on board and it doesn't help that you don't even have to overcommit to be punished by it. It's essentially MCT but instead of playing around it by having only 3 minions you need to play around it by having no minions whatsoever, because if there are 4 minions on the board by turn 3 you lose the game (unless you are blessed by Hir'eek himself)
This is basically just another symptom of the Conjurer's Calling epidemic because Blizzard refuses to acknowledge that high-cost cards that can reduce their cost to be play on early turns are just broken in combination with cards that take mana cost into account.
If they fixed this interaction by having cards "remember" their played cost when they hit the field, we wouldn't have had to nerf CC and MAge wouldn't be dead right now.
You are super late to the party, we have the exact same interaction for a looong time. Kobolds had corridor creeper which was literally the same but even easier to get on board early... That + unstable evolution did a lot of stuff... So next time you post circlejerk like this just don't, it's a very old strategy and definitely not that op
It was much tougher to get the creeper on board as you had to start with him in hand to start reducing the value. It was effective in paladin and aggro decks as they had tokens dying quickly. Evolve shaman was fun but never top tier.
Furthermore the creeper was hit hard by the nerfbat.
Was having a lot of fun with highlander hunter in standard. After focusing wild for the last few months my standard rank dipped to 18. I played around with my deck comp and finally crafted Subject 9. I streaked from 14 to 7 without a loss which is now my new record. Kudos to you Rez Quest Priest for finally beating me. That was a fun match
Are the decks listed on the front page in this section from tournament formats only or also the stuff the pros play on their streams? I ask because most tournament decks are actually pretty bad on ladder.
Absolutely worthless in Wild: 2-3 secrets up, doesn't even consider Flare. (Which would be the GO TO CARD in these Match-Ups!). Instead I'm always getting SI:7 Infiltrator, which frankly speaking is ok when playing against 1 (ONE) secret, but 2+x???
Programming is a little buggy here. What helps is forcing the mana issue. If you can lower the mana available after Zeph is played to 3 you'll be offered flair. In an ideal world I would like him to consider both as a choice but they have been good about updating his programming as time goes on. Forcing the mana issue or setting up lethal is important before you play him. Also need to consider things like opponent's life before you play him. Practice makes perfect, but he's a extremely potent when you get really good with him. And by potent I mean I love Pyroblasting warriors FTW over their taunt wall.
My guess is the single player will end with the cliche of The League of EVIL unleashing something they can’t control. Elise leading the league will have to put said evil back or destroy it.
Bonus prediction: Explorers and EVIL will work together in the last expansion.

Mysterious Challenger isn’t so bad I thought to myself. At least there’s no Avenge...
shit

Just a thought with tinkering odd/beast rogue... Untamed Beastmaster is odd.

My standard big shaman deck just got very interesting.

I mean, if you consider any deck that’s able to beat you before turn 10 to be aggro...
Most are midrange and tempo.

I partly agree, until we can get more people voting on decks sometimes 2 upvotes will rocket you to the top page.
However I do like that there is a lot more variety than just meta decks with 2-3 cards changed like hearthpwn generally posts.
Maybe adding a promotion for deck voting will help get the ball rolling as an idea
Almost impossible to pull off combo?! Yes please!

Might I suggest a Black Knight? Clears the way for your OTK and will kill a minion off of Shudderwok as well

I like the card, it’s lots of fun. But when I’m sitting on my 3rd pocket galaxy of the game I feel like your claims of infinite value don’t hold true
Lake Frog is hilarious
