Surprised Teferi's Tutelage isn't in the conversation at all.  I've been seeing so many decks, including one that decked me on turn 4 using a combo of Teferi and Song of Creation with a crap ton of zero mana spells.

Packs are 1k gold each.  Gems are better but there's always a use for gold.  You can also use gold to enter most drafts.  I do keep about 4-5k gold stockpiled for deals in the store or for occasional gold for gems deals.  If you want to save up for nicer drafts those can be around 10k gold.  I don't like drafting a lot so I normally don't do it.

I would love to see more 'holidays' but this is more like the paid in brawls from HS than the fire festival.  They have a pretty good amount of events going on at any time in MtG that are either free or a gold entry (not hard to save up for if you are doing dailies).  I do wish they would release info about how many winners they get, I'm interested in that data.  They probably won't because if it's only a few dozen at most in the top 2, you'll have less people willing to hork over a huge entrance fee.

    I honestly think it's worth a patch.

Ok, I'm just going to say it.  Mangara needs a belt.  He looks like he's wearing an unflattering dress.  A cord or something.  Anything.  That's a hideous outfit.

I went through my current list and found most of my cards will be standard in the next rotation still.  It's a pretty basic but fun deck with a lot of toys to cheat out wins.  Like you said, with a little more support in the next expansion (finger's crossed) it can be pretty powerful.

Yeah, but it's also on the heels of the first new class and some terrible design choices.  Lots of the cards in the first few rounds of nerfs were blatantly OP'd.  It felt more like a testing problem, or if you are the conspiracy theorist type it could have been an intentional flaw to hype the new class.

I feel like this will do well post rotation.  Nuking people with my Dog/Kitty combo is quite rewarding.  Pack leader has been an autowin for me a few times on turn 2.  There are a few fun cat abilities out there too.

Good advice!  I got into it at the beginning of Ikora's drop.  A little off and on play but now I'm normally at least doing my daily.  Used to play IRL a decade ago but I'm having more fun on this digital format.  Also played a few rounds of their failed digital conversions.

I bought the core mastery, if I keep enjoying the game I'll probably spring for the mastery every expansion to show my support.  I did something similar with HS until the whole Hong Kong thing, then I dropped Blizz completely.

You can report it and they actually can check on it, but I have never heard of a legitimate case of broken pity timers that Blizzard didn't actively compensate for.  Pity timer has different rules that people forget.  You should have gotten one legendary in your first 10 packs.  After that it's 40.  Every expansion set has it's own timer.  You can sort your collection by rarity, lots of times people think they skipped the pity timer but didn't notice they got a card.

In reply to Pity timer broken?

Just got into Arena recently.  I don't play historic due to lack of cards.  Still building up a standard base of cards.  Investing mostly in Core 21 and the last 3 sets so I'm ready to be extremely competitive in the rotation.

Cultivate is amazing for ramp and multi decks.

Against decks without direct removal, Pack Leader can lead to unstoppable build up.  Selfless Savior can be used to keep him alive against some direct damage or creature kill.  It might not be meta shattering, but the deck is pretty damned strong as is.  It can also be thrown together on a fairly tight budget, with the Pack Leaders being the only needed card to make a decent deck.  You can put together the rest with uncommons and commons.  I used a few cards from the Boros premade to fill in some holes and it does very nicely.  Response/Resurgence has stolen a few games away for me.  Played about 50 games with it since last week and I'm happy with it.  Room for improvement but I'm thinking I'll hold off for the rotation in a few months before I add much more investment into it.

I literally haven't seen any of these in play.  Probably will more in rotation since most of the standard decks are the same from before Core 21 launched.

I've been playing a dog deck that I'm surprised by.  It's been very consistent and winning a lot.  Pack Leader just screws up many decks and they have no answer.  He's 2 mana and stops all trades from happening when you attack except for Alpine Houndmaster.  I've included some first strike instants and the sacrificial 1 mana good boi to save him and let you pump through some damage.

If you haven't done this already there are a ton of free pack codes for every set available.  Here's the link to the codes.  https://outof.cards/magic-arena/1488-want-3-free-core-set-2021-packs-core-set-2021-is-now-live-on-mtg-arena

Rare drafting is not as valuable I think in the digital format.  In real life events this created a great opportunity to get good trades to make the decks you really want to make.  I scored some nice outsized trades when I used to go by snatching valuable cards I had no intention of playing in the draft.

Drafting is a bit of an acquired taste and a little learning curve to be successful in terms of money spent.  New players should invest in a mastery pass (20$) and since it's a new season you have plenty of time to make the most of it.  You earn a few free draft tokens in the process.

For drafting some people love it, I do it rarely but I"m not a fan.  Would rather play constructed decks.  I get more rage from terrible draft RNG or losing to some absurd opponent's draft deck.  I'm also bitter from years ago when I took second in a draft to some fat prick who 'needed to get his inhaler from the car' right before drafting and his deck was pretty much a standard deck that no one saw the cards for.

Didn't see the part about the give away and commander decks before.  >_<  Yeah, not enough for commanders but I'm working on a fun standard deck.

The commander I'm most looking forward to using is Jolrael, Mwonvuli Recluse (needed to google that spelling).  It's an ability that can start pumping cat tokens out right away.

*Not going so well right now.  Just not enough mono-green draw power.  Other commander's have more interactive cards currently.  Still holding out hope after the rotation of the next set.  Until then I crafted our favorite legendary Kitty/Doggo combo and that seems to be working out fairly well.

The pups and kittens are a fun edition.  Working on a cat deck right now with my cards I have available and will try to add the dogos later.

People are scared of dangerous dildos.  Some of us embrace them.
